Chizik's Cold Blood can't take Iowa Winters

Jokingly, on a conversation with his wife on an Iowa highway after being offered the Auburn job: "So I looked at my wife and said, 'Hey, we've got a chance to go back to Auburn.' So my wife's trying to act cool. She says, 'You know what, that's a great idea. Let's pray about it.' I'm thinking, it's 12 degrees out there. There ain't a lot to pray about. So we head down the highway, get to the house, we walk in there toward the spot we usually pray at. She goes right and I take off to the left and she says, 'Where are you going?' I say, 'You go pray, I'll go pack.'"

And I kid you not, here's what the writer says:
"Some other [turd] nuggets from Chizik during the dinner and a short interview just beforehand:"

She then took her kid out of school telling him, "your sick."

Nah, my cousin's son is in his grade and went to school with him. It was a pretty funny story. He came home and said, "(chizik's son) went home sick today but I dont think he was sick." The story became official about an hour after.

For "The Chizik" Pride comes before the Fall, which comes before the Winter which he fears greatly, but apparently not God.

No, more like disgusted and appalled. And thankful. Very, very thankful he is gone.

I wouldn't say I'm thankful he is gone but I do think Paul is a better fit at ISU. I really do believe Chizik would have done better in year 3.

I would hope so because him and his assistants sucked in year 2.

Re: Chizik's Cold Blood can't take Iowa Winters

On what he looks for when hiring assistant coaches: "There are three things and you can't miss on any of the three. The first thing is, I've got an 8-year-old son. Which one of these guys that I'm going to interview do I want my son to play for? ... I want to know who that guy is. He's got to be good enough to be around my son. The second thing I ask is, how good is he when it comes to coaching football? The third thing I ask - and it's not necessarily in this order - is can he and will he get his hands dirty, and walk into a school and say, 'Tell me who your best player is,' and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's going to get him? I have to hire a guy who has those three qualities. And in this day and age -- there's too many good players, there's too many good coaches and teams out there -- you cannot afford to go 1-3. You can't have a guy who can recruit, but can't coach. You can't have a guy who can coach, but can't recruit. And you dang sure don't want a guy you don't want your son around."

Where was this line of thinking when he was here?

“There have been a lotta tough guys. There have been pretenders. And there have been contenders. But there is only one king.”

I wouldn't unpack EVERYTHING if I were her, just the essentials.
