    GM dealerships in Central Iowa

Every GM dealership within 25 miles of DM.

    BOB BROWN CHEVROLET, INC.
    KARL CHEVROLET, INC.
    BENEVENTI CHEVROLET, INC.
    SHOTTENKIRK CHEVROLET
    HOLMES CHEVROLET INC.
    DEERY BROTHERS CHEVROLET, INC.
    GEORGE WHITE CHEVROLET
    MCKEE AUTO CENTER, INC.
    PAT CLEMONS, INC.
    RAMSEY PONTIAC
    BENSON MOTOR, INC.
    WATTERS AUTOLAND, INC.
. WILLIS CADILLAC, INC. Saab, Hummer

    WILSON OLDS CADILLAC TOYOTA SCION

    Saturn of Des Moines

I wonder which ones will survive? What is funny is that Toyota has 2 dealers in this same radius. Chrysler has 5 or 6 dealerships in this same 25 mile radius.

Karl will definately survive...didn't Deery Brothers just build a new facility?

I think Bob Brown, Karl, Willis Cadillac, and Wilson would be the safest bets.

I would think places like Indianola and Perry are most likely to lose dealerships.

I think Karl and Brown are the best bets.

I think that Benson has almost no chance. I'd be surprised to see Beneventi in Carlisle make it, just because they're not far enough from the pull of DM dealers to get enough traffic.

Clemons, I think, maybe could make it just by virute of Boone's distance from the DSM market. I've been wondering lately, though, if the car market will be centralizing itself, kind of like the limited Toyota dealers you pointed out.

Anything depending on Pontiac is in big trouble. Wasn't Saturn being phased out, too? That would pretty much cripple a Saturn dealership.

    Just my early thoughts.

Gotta have a lot of dealerships to keep the cost of towing down :D

I believe Saturn of Cedar Rapids closed today.

I think the big one in DM is going to be Ramsey. They were the big Pontiac dealer. Of course you're also going to see Saturn of DM, Hummer, and Saab go away so Willis is going to have a LOT of space for Cadillac and Lexus.

I think it might be tougher for Clemons to make it since they have Benson, Wilson, and George White in Ames.

BTW-I HATE Lithia motors. I always had good luck with Honda of Ames, Acura, and VW before they moved into town. I actually had employees tell me while I was getting an oil change how much they hated new management.

They just rolled in a HUGE new dealership sign on a flatbed truck...I laughed when I saw the Buick emblem (sp).

The rumors have been flying about Karl in Ankeny for a while. I don't think anybody is totally safe at this point.

I don't see Benson making it anyway.

George White needs to be able to make a run solely as a Checy dealer, with Karl right down the road. That's gonna be tough.

I might like Clemons chances better just based on the fact that I don't like those other two.

Wilson, I think, could be just fine.
