I had a short convo with Mike on twitter about this just now and he and I agree that we aren't that low and it's most likely the NYT trying stir some stuff up putting some BCS schools that low.

So Gene Chizik really left the program better than he found it, eh?

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

I think Rhoads is such a better fit then Chizik. Chizik didn't give a crap about anything concerning Iowa State athletics. The only thing that southern snake gave a crap about was his paycheck and waiting for that next job offer to get him out of dodge.

I love how the article points out how we're considered some epic bastion of futility, yet we've been to 5 bowl games in the past decade, whereas Rutgers had won 32 games over 10 years prior to Schiano and KU had 9 straight losing seasons prior to Mangino. The general media often overlooks reality and casts as more pathetic than the on field results would indicate.

Another reason for me to hate New York. Only one thing to do now, and that's prove 'em wrong.

You've got to be kidding. I didn't read the article but to insinuate that ISU FB is anywhere close to Rutgers, or Kansas for that matter, at this point is laughable.
