    Obvious question.

If the guy who founded hooters is an ISU alum, is it too much to ask for to get a hooters in Ames? Talk about forgettin where ya came from.

I mean, I love west cyde wings 'n all. It is definitely my favorite place to get wings, but hooters is a close second (and obviously not for the average wings).

TBH, I think Hooters wings are just meh.

Hooters is a francise-type operation. What it would take is someone being willing to spend the money to buy the franchise and put up the restaurant.

    Got a few million?

I would like to see it in the Jake or something like that (along with a nice big donation). Much like all the new baseball parks have their outfield stuff.

Found this online at yourbusinessfranchising.com. These are the 'requirements' for starting your own Hooters franchise.

    • Territory—the location must be approved and 3-5 restaurants must be opened within your territory
    • Regional Population—there is a minimum requirement of 100,000 people is within a five-mile radius of restaurant
    • Monetary Investment—there is a requirement of $2 million in liquid assets per restaurant
    • Experience—there is a requirement of at least five years of multi-restaurant ownership or operation experience

    Re: Obvious question.

In Hooters consititution for franchises the town you put one in must be a certain size. I think the magic number is 100k. Not real sure on that number but I know that is the company's rule.

    Re: Obvious question.

I am not sure there is enough willing "talen" in Ames to make the environment work.

I have been to some Hooters in places with a very deep talen bench but the environment at the resteraunt was sub-par.

That's a pretty big population base. That should mean there will never be a Hooters in Ames.

    Re: Obvious question.

The franchise rights for Iowa are already owned by someone else. Not sure we are a big enough population state to divide up the rights like they would in Florida.

FWIW, his group has (or had when I worked for him) the Chicagoland area and the Tampa/St. Pete area locations.

You'd think an alum could make an exception to the rule.

    Re: Obvious question.

Hooters food is generally terrible. Would much rather have a Buffalo Wild Wings.
