    Schedule upgrade

It appears Cal will be a definite schedule upgrade...the linked article also lists Kansas State and Okie State as potential big improvements.
    Hoops improvement - College Basketball - Rivals.com

    2008-09 record: 22-11
2009-10 outlook: The lethal backcourt of Patrick Christopher and Jerome Randle should make the Golden Bears the team to beat in the Pac-10 next season. It also doesn’t hurt that schools such as UCLA, Washington, Arizona and Arizona have been stung by graduations and early NBA draft defections. Cal fans should expect a deeper run in the NCAA tournament after being upset in the first round by Maryland last year.

    Re: Schedule upgrade

I'm glad we got paired up with them. I was kind of hoping we would be paired up with UCLA, since they would have a down year, but Cal is a good team too. I haven't been this excited about basketball in a long time.

    Re: Schedule upgrade

I'm sure the competition with better teams goes a long way in both recruiting top players ie. Barnes & Eijm as well as motivating the current roster to work even harder. For fans like me who can't stand the patsy schedules as of late & improving our RPI is sugar on the cake...thank you Mac

    Re: Schedule upgrade

It will be interesting to see as this years schedule ISU may get a top 10 team in Cal that maybe the best in the Pac 10, UNI who is most likely to be the pick to win the Missouri Valley, possiably Notre Dame who if Harrengoty comes back will most likely by a top 6 pick in the Big east. Then you have Iowa who won't be great but their conference RPI will be one of the top 3 most likely and possiably St.Louis another team that isn't going to be an NCAA tourney team but they play in what maybe the best non BCS conference in the A10 which is going to help with ISU's RPI.
