    bootcy

i see on your thread that you're from waukee. I am 30 and have lived in DM my whole life and when I was in HS waukee was just a small town with a 2A HS. Even though I know the Des Moines area well, I haven't driven through there since the mid-90s. How are things going out there?

You live in Des Moines and haven't driven through Waukee in 10 years?? It just seems surprising...

I've lived in Des Moines for the better part of 30 years, and I've never been to Waukee. I don't think I'm missing anything.

i've driven past there on the interstate but thats it. What reason would I to go out there. There aren't any malls over there or anything.

Maybe i'll take jaretac's advice and take a detour and drive out there myself when i'm in the area (like at jordan creek mall)

I guess it's just that I grew up in a very rural area, and there wasn't any town in a 40 mile or so radius that I didn't drive through at least once a year, or so. I guess living in a city is different, but it just seems odd to me that something wouldn't have brought you through ONCE in a 10 year period, when it's 10 or so miles away. Not trying to be critical or anything like that, it just surprised me.

My guess is that it's changed a LOT since the mid-90's...

You really don't need to go through Waukee for anything. I grew up there and graduated from there in '04. If you're going out of Des Moines to the West you get on the interstate and go south of it and if you're going north or south you're staying east of it. If you're not going out there for either a DSM Menace game or if you are going to some kind of school oriented event/competition there really isn't any thing that makes it a destination. The school District you get into all the time (Jordan Creek is in it), but the actual city limits not so much.

You haven't been to the closest Pizza Ranch to most parts of Des Moines?

I haven't been to West Des Moines since it was Valley Junction anyway.

Yeah, I live in the school district as well. I believe the Waukee school district encompasses all parts of West Des Moines, Clive, and Urbandale that extend into Dallas County, so it's pretty large.

I live in Johnston and have only been to Waukee once in the last 10 years. I assume it's just like all the other suburbs like Grimes, Johnston, etc.

    Re: bootcy

I don't understand how you can live just a few miles away and not visit your home town in 10 years. Even if you don't have any relatives there anymore, I drive through towns every once in a while just to see what has been happening. Maybe I'm unique?
