    Spring Game

    http://www.cyclones.com/ViewArticle....&ATCLID=751453

The date is set for April 14th. I am not in Ames anymore, but I would be willing to bet this coming spring game will be a larger draw than in the past.

For those of you keeping track--this is the weekend after Easter and the week before VEISHEA. I, personally, like this timing. I'll be there for sure!

I've never attended the spring game. Can someone describe the atmosphere? Tail-gaiting? Tickets?

its kinda fun, cause if i remember right, its when they sell alot of stuff too, i got a nice nike bag for 10 bucks

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

It's nothing like a real game but it's still fun. There's a mini tailgate that only the hardcore of the hardcores will attend.

During the a.m. tailgate I encourage you to check out the annual spring sale tent for some cheap ISU gear. Last year I got 7 decent t-shirts for 30 bucks.

The game itself isn't too exciting but I still wouldn't want to be anywhere else that day. Good experience if you've never been.

I second this! Two years ago I was able to buy a freshly severed goat head from some guy in the parking lot right before the game for like $25! It was a good quality goat head to, if you ask me I got a great deal.

Well...if you can get goat heads at this game it's a given. I'll be there.

This is a good synopsis. I don't know that I have experienced the goat head...and frankly, it frightens me a bit.

Overall, the spring game is fun and gets the blood pumping for Cyclone football.

I have been to every spring game save a few since 1974. If you want to see how they build a football progaram, its a must see.

This is just silly. They haven't sold severed goat heads in at least 10 years.

Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man.

In the past the spring practices were open and that was a great way to see what goes into getting ready for the fall.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

    Re: Spring Game

If it's not as well attended as we will be in the fall, what about making this a CF outing? Special spring tailgait for CF fans. We'll tailgait together.

I believe you have to buy a season ticket to get into the spring game...wait, maybe not.

You're absolutely right. The open practices stopped with Dan McCarney if I remember correctly. It was a lot more fun with open practices though!
