    Weird computer problem?

Does anyone know why my Dell computer speakers are always playing a radio station in the background very faintly even when there are no programs running on my computer. I have no idea how to get rid of it. The volume of the program in the background is not affected by the volume control on the speakers or the control on the computer. Thanks for the help

Are you really close to a radio station? You might try moving your cords around.

I am not aware of any radio stations close by. Moving the cords around doesnt help. Thanks though.

If you're not close to a radio station, maybe you're close to a radio tower. It's not an uncommon problem, apparently. Do any of your neighbors have the same problem?

    Re: Weird computer problem?

Disconnect the input from the computer to the speakers but leave the speakers plugged into their power source. At least then it could give you a better idea if the problem is even your computer. Although not necessarily because it could be a combination of that wire and you computer that are picking up the signal even if the above fixes causes the problem to stop. At any rate the first step is most likely finding the source of the radio station "broadcast" whether something is picking it up over the air, it is coming from your computer, or something else.

It's RF energy strong enough to induce a voltage in the speaker wires.

There must be a strong RF source nearby causing this.

    Shield your speaker wires.

Are you near a recruiting station? Have the Chinese hacked your computer? Are you running a botnet for the RIAA?

My alarm clock radio at home does the same thing even when I have it turned off. It is classical music that comes through the speaker, I just assumed the ghosts in my house like listening to classical music.
