Re: Good article on how Brackins staying helps ISU

I'm very optimistic about next season, but I think it's statements like this that're going to create impossible expectations for the 09-10 team:

"The 2009-10 Iowa State menís basketball team will be going to the NCAA tournament. As sweet as that sounds donít be shocked if they also make some noise when they get there."

I mean, if we're starting with this now, what's it going to build to over the summer? Just let the guys work this offseason with a chip on their shoulder and improve so they can confront their "unfinished business." This is going to be a completely different team in the fall...should be very fun to watch!

Good article. I bet they now back that extra scholy. Brackins back will help Ham and LAP big time. But we do need to be calm on how well this team will do until half way through the Big 12 season next year.

Re: Good article on how Brackins staying helps ISU

The difference makers next year will not be Brackins or any other returning players. It's all the new players, red-shirted or otherwise, who will have to make the difference. I don't think just another year of seasoning from our existing players magically jumps us into a Sweet 16 team or even a bye in the first round of the Big 12 tourney.

Bit premature but at least people are not talking predicting how bad we will be in 2009...

Yeah, he is really drinking the koolaid. He'd better save some for me. If he does, I give his article 5 stars.

If Gilstrap is the "real deal" and everyone else improves it's possible. I still would be concerned about the guards.

He doesn't have to save it for me, I make my own

I really enjoyed that article! I'm convinced that good things not only can happen, but they're about to happen. I'll just stick with making the tournament for now. That's a big-time step. If we do that, then I plan to move mountains to get to that first weekend!

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

I am concerned about the point. DG was not consistent enough and can't shoot. Buckley showed some promise at the end of the year and has a long ways to go. Colvin is going to be a true freshman and you can not count on him leading the team.

If you can not get solid play out of your PG, then all the sweet 16 talk can stop now. If DG can get a lot better of if Buckley can take that step from year 1 to 2 and lead the team, then anything is possible.

A little to over the top for my taste. CB staying is huge news but lets make an NCAA tournament before we get too concerned as to how well we actually do in it.

    I liked this quote:

"Overall, this team will have outstanding depth and the staff will have the flexibility to match up with almost any kind of team that they play."

I just hope our coaching staff will recognize the matchup and play the appropriate players and scheme at the appropriate times.
