    Severe Weather Sundays

Looks like severe weather season '09 is picking up right where '08 left off.
It seemed like last year, Sunday had a lot more warnings than any other day of the week. IIRC, 4 Sundays in May/June had TStorm or Tornado warnings where I was at. Not sure if there is a way to check out exactly how many or not.
Any weather guys (or gals) out there have any idea what to expect throughout the rest of the day?

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Fine by me I get a day to take it easy this way.

I agree...no one (my wife) expects me to mow the lawn or do yard work on a day like today.

This is kind of what I have come to expect on Sundays.

    Re: Severe Weather Sundays

Even though we are currently in a Tornado Watch and the SPC and NWS continue to think there will be a tornado threat extending from central IA to the southwest... I don't see much of a threat besides heavy rainfall. The storms are congealing into one big mess and don't have any room to organize. I would say there may be a few strong wind reports and some small hail... but tornadoes are not likely unless one happens to swirl up in an embedded supercell.

The big story tonight for Iowa will be heavy rain and some flooding. Most locations in central Iowa and points east and south will see another 2+" of rain. This bout of heavy rain may set the stage for more flooding in a few days with another chance of heavy rain on Wednesday and Thursday.

    I'm not.

I am very interested in the weather though. I chase storms occasionally (I frequent a storm chaser forum) and I've taken a meteorology class at ISU. It's more like a hobby.

    Re: Severe Weather Sundays

Isolated storm just north of Cedar Rapids has pulled itself together and is now Tornado Warned. Still nothing of big concern anywhere else at the moment.

*EDIT - This is a warning based off of trained weather spotters observing a tornado.

    "
...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 515 PM CDT FOR
NORTHEASTERN LINN AND SOUTHERN DELAWARE COUNTIES...

AT 454 PM CDT...TRAINED SPOTTERS REPORTED A TORNADO APPROXIMATELY 5
MILES WEST OF CENTRAL CITY...OR 14 MILES NORTH OF CEDAR
    RAPIDS...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 40 MPH.

    THE TORNADO WILL BE NEAR...
PARIS AND CENTRAL CITY AROUND 500 PM CDT...
    COGGON AROUND 505 PM CDT...
    PRAIRIEBURG AROUND 510 PM CDT...
RYAN...BUCK CREEK...7 MILES SOUTHWEST OF TURTLE CREEK PARK AND 8
MILES SOUTH OF BAILEYS FORD PARK AROUND 515 PM CDT..."
