    Retire #21

Thanks to another thread i want to add this one. So lets say Craig has similar stats as to last year but we win 20-22 games. We make the tourny for the first time in years. CB goes pro but helped establish the road to success. Should #21 then be retired even though he didn't graduate. I personally think that if we start winning that the decision made today will be one of the bigest ones ever in cyclone history.

It depends what we do this year, but Craig means so much to this program at this point and has already left his legacy, at least on me.

    Re: Retire #21

I think we would need to retire #5 for Fizer before we would #21.

#11 and even #5 should go up there before #21.

    Re: Retire #21

I'm not saying that Brackins doesn't deserve it, but how many players get their jersey retired after two seasons when the team goes around .50 winning % and no post season, not even a Big 12 tourney win.

If Brackins makes it big in the NBA or if they make it to the NCAA this season, his jersey will eventually be retired, but not until then.

I think the issue is we have some young posters, and for them, Brackins is the biggest thing they've ever seen.

How about #13? He's certainly got the individual stats. First player in Big 12 to get 1,000 points, 100 steals, 100 3's, and 100 blocks. All that on top of being named to the Big 12 All Defensive team his senior year.

    Re: Retire #21

I like CB as much as the next guy, but any talk of retiring his number right now is premature and, in my opinion, a little dramatic.

Let's not get too emotional about Brackins coming back. Take a deep breath

FYI - we don't retire numbers.... only the jersey.

I liked Rahshon as much as the next guy, but there are at least 10 other players that don't have their jerseys retired that would come ahead of him...

No, Craig's done nothing to deserve having his jersey in the rafters. He's on my all time favorite list but seriously.

Likely our university wouldn't want to permanently immortalize two gun toting thugs even if they are great basketball players and meant so much to two title runs. Plus, Fizer, when given the choice, chose the NBA. Brackins has a lot less help on his team and when given the choice chose Iowa State. If we do good things this year and he goes lottery I think it needs to be considered. If for nothing else than being the guy that ended the streak of crap thrown on our mens programs.
