    Some cool technology

Our school is looking at getting some new technology. It is similar to the Smartboards, but newer, better, and with more functions.

    Anyone familiar with this stuff?

Education Solutions : Hitachi Software Engineering America, Ltd.

I sat in on part of a demo and I like it versus some of the other stuff we are looking at getting.

    Re: Some cool technology

I had a presentation at DMACC for my company, and we saw that DMACC has some of these. Pretty cool stuff.

These are listed on the Iowa Education Consortium, so if your school
is interested , check out their prices, and compare to the others offered at a school discount.

I got the chance to mess with it some. I like it. The hover technology gets a little tough to get used to at first. I can see some of the "Seasoned" teachers having a tough time with this.

IMO, considering that budgets for public schools are getting slashed left and right, it seems sort of wasteful to buy stuff like this.

I also teach in a state where Oil/coal/ and other resources pay for education.

My school is lucky enough to have 1-1 tecnology for MS and HS, meaning they all have laptops.

Ever wonder how Japan moves so fast with tech? Seems like everyone over there has easier access to more than we do. How is it done?

Crazy population density. Imagine the investments you can make in infrastructure when essentially everyone lives in, or extremely near, a major urban area.

That, and their society is much more proactive and accepting of technology than the US.

Man, I am envious. I didn't even have a computer to take attendence on for the first 3 weeks of school this year (apparently everyone was present!).

My district is ahead of the curve on a lot of technology things, not just in our state, but I would say nationally as well. We had a few people present at a bigger conference last year I believe.

I've been messing with smartboards for the last 8 or so years. It's one of those "gee whiz" things that nobody really uses, in my experience. They'd just as soon use a whiteboard. (I know i would just as soon use a whiteboard).

These Starboards are much more advanced than Smartboards.
