    Worst beer ever drank...

I saw this popping up a bit in the Boulevard thread. What is the worst beer you've drank?

Mine has to be, with out a doubt, Milwaukee Special Reserve. I think its only available in Minnesota and Wisconisn. It's not related to Old Milwaukee, or Milwaukee's Best. Absloute ****...

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

    Re: Worst beer ever drank...

LaCrosse. When I was in my junior year HyVee ran a special selling it for less than a quarter a can. Needless to say, we packed my trunk full of the stuff and it became our "house beer" for a while. It didn't taste so bad, but after about the 4th one, it would cause intense searing pain in the stomach, and a LaCrosse hang-over was BRUTAL.

I think LaCrosse was big into being "fully krausenated," whatever the hell that means. I think it means that it causes intense stomach pain.

    Re: Worst beer ever drank...

Mine is also Milwaukee Special Reserve, had it in Iowa City this year after the Cy-Hawk game. I was already pretty gone but could still taste how bad it was, tried it again sober and threw out the other 20 or so that were left.

I believe that LaCrosse was made in LaCrosse, WI and it was brewed in the old Old Style Brewery in town (for a while it was also City Brew). When G. Heilman's got bought out my Miller, they closed down the LaCrosse brewery. A sad day, in my opinion because of the history and uniqueness of that brewery. Old Style when brewed there was made with pure Artesian spring water and it too was fully Krausened. Krausening was unique to OS and it was a German process for adding carbonation.

Like it or hate it, the Brewery there was cool and the history there was interesting. It is sad that the world's largest six pack is no longer.

    Edit: Sorry for the Digression.

I used to buy bottle beer by the case in that price range during that same time frame: Rhinelander and Huber Bock. Both were extemely cheap and in bottles. A rare combination.

I get this on purpose sometimes, of course I also get 40's of OE when I get gas occasionally. I would rather have Ice than Miller Lite

Natural Light Ice. It was on sale at Keg Shop for 2 bucks a 6-pack my sophomore year. Totally undrinkable. We ended up using it to spray like champagne after the ISU beat Iowa in 1998.

    Elephant and Elk.

Some kind of import from Europe at the tasting room at Aneheiser Busch brewery in St Louis back in the mid 90's.

Only had a little tasting cup of each, and was sick as a dog rest of the day.

(names should have been a tip - probably the p!$$ of both animals)
