Mike Taylor: Better with or without?

I know a lot of people can't stand the guy because of his poor decision making/turnovers/out of control style...you get the idea.

Is our team better without him because of those reasons or do we need his scoring to stay in games?

I personally think we would struggle to reach 50 pts/game without him so I accept the bad with the good.

If we were to lose him to lets say an injury for the rest of the season, we would not win another game. We need him to be a point guard, a creater, and a shooter.

I like the guy but I definately get frustrated at times with his decision making. But I can cuss him for another turnover and he'll have me out of my seat the next time down making some tough shot.

It personally bothers me watch Cory McIntosh play.

Without Mike Taylor, this team doesn't win a game.

Re: Mike Taylor: Better with or without?

I was extremely frustrated that Taylor came out with as many points as he did, because it made the KSU game look respectable. He scored ZERO points in almost 32 minutes of play. Granted, he obviously wasn't on the floor for all of those 32 minutes, but ZERO? ALL of his points came in the final 8 minutes, when we were basically trying to hang on for dear life after having Jiri carry our team for the whole first 3/4 of the game. Speaking of, hell of a job Jiri did today. Wow.

EDIT: I want to make it clear that while I think Mike Taylor is rediculous, and often makes bad decisions, he's still our leading scorer, and I can't say we'd be better off without him.

We wouldn't win 7 games without Mike Taylor. I'll never understand why fans turn on a player so quickly, I just don't understand it. Nobody is perfect, he's a damn juco transfer in his first month of Big 12 play. It's like the people who rode Jiri to the curb, good call there.

Re: Mike Taylor: Better with or without?

One thing I did notice was we did cut into the lead and got it down to 6, with Mike Taylor sitting on the bench. I think we are better because of him, but when he is in there, their doesn't seem to be good offensive series. He dribbles the ball while everyone else stands around and watches him. He's not Stinson, but he sure forces like Stinson used to. I'd like to see him in there with some good ball movement. Thats all K-State did pretty much all game, was have good ball movement until a shot opened up.

It can go the other way also. How many people jumped on the Mike Taylor bandwagon after the Minnesota game? I'm just not that impressed with him. Could Mcintosh score 20 if he throws up 25 shots per game?

Give the guy a break! Just let him play and we need to worry about being great fans no matter what!

    No.

Mike Taylor has no choice but throw up 20 shots a game, what else are we going to do? It's normally either dump it into Jiri, Taylor create a shot, or turnover. Poor Wesley Johnson would be SO much better with a PG and if he could play the 3, it's almost depressing. Rahshon can't find his way in this system, Mcintosh has a nice cross over, but nothing else, and Dodie only hits shots in the clutch. I was on the Mike Taylor bandwagon before Minnesota and I'm still riding because I refuse to dog a player after 2 bad games.

Name a guy on our team that can consistently create his own shot other than Mike Taylor...........

Re: Mike Taylor: Better with or without?

I say we're better with him simply because we have no alternative. No one else on our team is capable of a 20 point game right now. Wesley gets shoved around too much, Jiri doesn't get the ball in his hand enough, and what happened to Clark? He used to be a dribble and shoot player but has resigned himself to passing the ball and looking for rebounds instead. I think just about everyone was expecting 15 a game out of him. He needs to loosen up and put the ball on the floor.

Taylor needs to adjust to the speed of the Big 12 game quickly if we expect to win anymore games.

Nobody. Mike Taylor is the only player that can create his own shot. I root for the guy, I want him to do well. My point is, why can't we pass the ball? Why do we have to rely on Mike Taylor to make a good play 1 out of every 4 plays? It seems like every time we need a bucket, Taylor throws up a bad three, turns it over, or gets trapped in the lane with no outs. That's why I like when Dodie is in the game. He seems to be the only other guard willing to take a shot. Mcintosh is afraid to shoot, and Brock, that's a whole nother thread. We don't know if someone else can score 20 points. No one else is taking enough shots.

We only had 6 TOTAL ASSISTS the whole game. That is pathetic. Lets share the ball.

Mike is the only one who appears to want to drive the lane out of the whole team. STRANGE.
