    Brock Jacobson or Cory Johnson

Right now Brock Jacobson is getting a lot more minutes in the 2nd half than Cory Johnson is. I just don't understand that, and hope that Coach Mac makes some adjustments from here on out.

Maybe Brock hits his 3s in practice, but he's not getting it done in the games that count:

    Brock 9-31 (29%) from 3pt
    Cory J 5-8 (63%) from 3pt

I know we're hurting for guard play, but Cory Johnson looks like he can handle the ball pretty well. Plus he's tougher to take it from, and he can get his shots off without getting them blocked.

Reid Gettys had it right today. KSU's guys were pushing our tall, skinny guys around all game. Cory Johnson should be getting more PT. He would add a physical presence that we're missing right now.

Brock can't even get a shot off half the time. Not to mention his ball handling.Cory should be playing more!

I agree. Brock has a very slow release. At 6'2", he's not going to have much success in the Big 12... unless he starts shooting them from 28 feet.

Re: Brock Jacobson or Cory Johnson

Not only does Brock need to be wide open to get a 3 point shot off, he doesn't play that great of defense either. I'm really baffled why CJ is not seeing more time. I understand when Jiri is in there but why not play Gray and CJ both if you have to? That kid is great energy off the bench and plays physical.

I have not been at any practices nor do I have any inside info...but many coaches will tie playing time to performances in practice. Anyone know how the practice sessions are going for CJ? Again...just throwing that out as a possibility?

Re: Brock Jacobson or Cory Johnson

I think TODAY, BJ saw more playing time than CJ because by the time the game reached 7-8 minutes left in the 2nd half, we were pretty much just heaving 3s, and CJ can't shoot them as well as BJ can.

Granted a smaller shooting statistic for CJ, but I would say it would be pretty close on the long haul.

Re: Brock Jacobson or Cory Johnson

I was yelling out "WHY", everytime Brock was brought in for "offense" everytime. Anyone know what his 3pt % is this year, i dont care enough to look it up. But i bet its not good enought to warrant all these shots. Id much rather have Mike, Dodie, Rahshawn, or Wes throwin em up than him.

I wish he were a lil more like John Neal... did I just say that?!?

We shot 19% from three point range today. 36% overall. All guards are shooting less than 30% in Big 12 play.

Re: Brock Jacobson or Cory Johnson

With the start of Big 12 play, Jiri, Gray, and W Johnson, with spot minutes from Cory J have handled the front court responsibilities fairly well. When we have problems, it's the guard court that is the black hole. At CU, GMac tried everybody, yesterday when we needed 3's to get back in the game, he put in his best 3 shooter, Jacobson. Makes sense to me.

Re: Brock Jacobson or Cory Johnson

I'm sure he plays because he hits 3's and guards in practice. I'm not really into getting down on players, after all they're not paid professionals. All I will say is this. McDermott should not recruit players who belong at the D-3(Simpson, Central College) level. I think GMAC will eventually get it right.

Re: Brock Jacobson or Cory Johnson

Brock got minutes yesterday because we couldn't salvage a shot from anyone. I agree with McDermott's decision to put him in because when you can't get any offense, you need to get a spark from somewhere, and believe it or not, Brock has a really good stroke from 3. It doesn't show in the stats, but sometimes shooters get in slumps. No one else was even coming close to the rim, so why not try out Brock.

I believe that Cory Johnson didn't play much because of the type of players that K-State had. Coach Mac talked after the game about how athletic their low post players were. I don't think he believed Cory could match up with them, and I would probably agree that right now Cory just doens't have the size or quickness, but he'll build those things in a couple of years.

Re: Brock Jacobson or Cory Johnson

Cory Johnson can hit 3 pointers and handle the ball. I think he should be playing the other guard position.
