Not bad for a guy that used to make 12 bucks an hour as a bouncer...

Not bad indeed, it's almost a Kurt Warner type of story...

lol, I was a bouncer and didn't even make over 10/hour...suffice to say I no longer do that.

Re: UFC: Chuck "Iceman" Liddell Done

Ever since Rampage knocked him out he's never been the same. Chuck dropped like a sack of potatoes last night.

On another tangent...the Silva/Leithes fight was among the worst I've ever seen. I consider myself to be a very casual MMA fan, and even I would wanted a refund after watching those two pussyfoot around for 25 minutes.

Watching that fight almost made you forget how great the rest of the card was. The undercard fight that they showed before Silva/Leithes was 10x better.

sad day indeed, but isnt any day that a husker fan is forced to retire a sad day....

but his fire will be missed inside of that ring.

i agree that to the casual fan the Silva fight was boring as ****, but i follow the sport very close, and trust me... that was pure dominance by Silva, and showed why we is the most feared fighter in the world. Leites' front leg was getting bashed the entire time, completely neutralizing his great BJJ because he couldnt get takedowns. Leites didnt land a single good strike the entire time. Silva could have gone another 5 rounds while Leites was absolutely gassed.

I would say it's benefiting all of mankind when a Husker retires.

Oh, there was no doubt that Silva controlled the fight the entire time. Part of my frustration watching it was that Silva didn't just end it. I think he kicked Leithes knee/leg 8 times in the 3rd round.

Leithes had nothing left by the last round, and Silva was just toying with him. Leave no doubt.

i disagree, unless that fight ends by KO with 10 seconds left i want to see a full 5 round battle. i always feel ripped off when a fight ends by KO after 1 minute of the first round! a nice technical fight that lasts 3-5 rounds is pure entertainment and should be applauded because most people simply could not do that.

    +1

i love the technical fights that are like chess matches.... silva had the game plan down and just picked leites apart. it exciting to watch someone be able to just control another fighter that well. i was suprised he didnt go in for the kill in the 4th or 5th, but why put yourself at risk against a dangerous submission guy if you already have the fight in hand? against another striker he would have went in for the KO, but leites is known for sick submissions so it wasnt worth risking it.

Re: UFC: Chuck "Iceman" Liddell Done

The Silva fight was a terrible one. Among the worst headliners in UFC history. The fault lies with Anderson too. He has even mentioned something about wanting to prove he could go 5 full rounds so I think that was his intention.

He is so feared by the other fighters that they are hesitant to engage him at all on the feet. But he is comfortable just waiting for them to come in so he can find that opening. When that doesn't come you get a glorified dance competition.

He has no business going 5 rounds with a fighter like Leites. If he wants to remain considered as one of the top pound for pound fighters he needs to learn to adapt to the fight and press the action if he needs to. Can you imagine GSP, BJ Fedor, Uriah, Torres etc. just hanging back for an entire fight. No they look to finish and Anderson needs to get back to the point where he was the best at that.
