Kick Ira Lubert in the Nutts

Ira is the Penn State Millionair that ponied up the $2.5 million for Cael. Don't be ****** at Pollard.

I personally can't do any such thing to a person who decides that their $2.5 million is worth spending on wrestling. I'd rather thank them and then wait until ISU has the chance to beat the tar out of PSU on the mat.

I could kick him in the nuts. Iowa State has very few legends, and even fewer that when you mention their name, you think Iowa State. That ***** stole our legend from us. I hope he rots in hell with his millions.

Gable is an Iowa (State of) legend, Cael is a mercenary. Cael would've gone 159-0 no matter where he went, he has that much talent. It's great that he did it for the Cardinal and Gold, but his roots have never been that deep around here. The fact that ISU felt the need to accelerate his ascention to head coach tells me that.

Re: Kick Ira Lubert in the Nutts

    Hypothetical Question:

If Cael Had 5 more years at ISU, would ISU have passed Iowa?

This was ISU's best wrestling team in 20 yrs, but it was still the 2nd best team in the State. Could Cael have gotten ISU over the Hump?

If Zalesky were still coaching Iowa, I think Cael would already have a championship, because he would've had the recruiting edge. But with Brands bringing the "Gable style" back to Carver-Hawkeye, the Black and Gold shadow grew into an eclipse.

I think what it comes down to is the fact that while Cael Sanderson is probably the greatest freestyle wrestler ever, the University of Iowa has been the better program in recent history, and programs will trump single wrestlers most of the time.

Most of you kids are too young to remember when Gable went to Iowa. It was a similar situation in that Carver (Bandag of Muscatine, hospital fame in Iowa city) absolutely paved the streets in gold with salary, facilities, bonuses to get Gable. It was a big bet at the time...but a bet that paid off handsomely for Iowa. It appears that Lubert is making that same same bet on Sanderson.

Re: Kick Ira Lubert in the Nutts

Nice info on Gable going to Iowa City.

We'll, If Cael can get Penn State rolling and kick Iowa off the Big 10 Top Spot, then its not a complete loss.

I still have hope that we can get a GREAT COACH to at least compete with Iowa.
