    Question Shed

I am looking to put a shed next to my house in a little bump out area behind my garage. The size I am looking to build is about 10x8. My question is what material is the best? Wood, Vinyl, or steel? I am going to be storing mower, snowblower, tools, a work bench, and other little misc. things. For the people who have sheds, what do you like and dislike about yours?

I wish mine was one of these.... Home Depot has several models for viewing in the parking lot.

    Re: Shed

I live in a trailer court, so I see a lot of these. I would go with a nice wood one. The steel ones get run down after a while and are nearly impossible to fix if they get a leaky roof or something like that. Most of the new ones I see going up are wood.

We bought a pre-fabbed plastic one. Works great and looks nice (won't rust!!).

The most important thing to do, is to have a level area to put the shed. dig down about and inch or 2 and use small gravel to level it out and create a good base with drainage.

    then, setup/install.

    -keep.

    Re: Shed

We have a wood one. The people in our neighborhood with the vinyl ones have had them fall apart in the wind storm last summer. Ours had no problems.

It does require maintenance in painting and roofing. But, I'd say it is worth it.

I'll be gone the next 2 weeks, but if you message Ripvdub, I'm sure he'd let you come over and check ours out.

Man I want one of these, my garage is so overpacked.

I have no level ground in my backyard that does not have an electrical box on it.

    Re: Shed

I'm getting ready to build a 10X12 wood shed with concrete floor and vinyl siding. I'm going all out, since I want something secure that I don't have to worry about fixing/repairing every other year.

I'm planning to keep our house for awhile, so I won't build a steel and plastic shed. In our old house, a guy across the street built a 10X10 steel shed to house his $10,000 john deere riding lawn mower and attachments. It looked like it was a pretty high quality kit. 3 days after he finished it, a wind storm came along and blew it over. The replacement shed was built of wood.
