Strange aerial siting west of Ames?

Did anybody see that strange aerial launch tonight from the Boone area? It seems there was clearly a vertical launch of some aerial device west of Ames tonight. Did anyone else catch it? I know I'm not crazy... ;)

Someone must have lit a match in an outhouse in Boone. They really need to get indoor plumbing over there.

Well... it's easy to be funny about this one,, it's too easy. Anyone out and about tonight that witnessed the same? From an amateur point of view, it look liked a missile or rocket launch of some sort? Vapor trail straight up into the air. I'm sure more reports will sprout within a matter of time.

I wonder if that guy who built that strange structure finally attracted aliens with it.

Before reading your description of a rocket I thought it might be the HABET balloon.
