    Virus Help

Ok. I have this threat info come up every time I open Mozilla. I "heal" it every time. My hotmail just sent out an e-mail that I did not send with some crazy message about a new company or something.

Help???? I went to the extension that it lists and it says it doesn't exist.

I'd click on the .doc, but I don't want my computer infected too.

    Re: Virus Help

Is that screenshot a warning from your legitimate anti-virus/spyware?

Edit: It looks like a screenshot from AVG...is that what you have?

    Re: Virus Help

Yes, it is a screen shot from the virus protection AVG... legitimate.

I updated the program already.... I tried to get the image on the first post... didn't know how to do it other than put it into a word doc.

It looks like AVG has picked up a tracking cookie, which isn't really going to harm anything, but will be annoying if AVG picks it up all the time.

What I would do is clear all my cookies, or run a different spyware program like Malwarebytes, and see if that clears it up.

Another option would be to follow that file path you see in that warning, and delete the cookie manually.

    Re: Virus Help

Hey 4VR4CY, I had basically that same thing pop up on my computer about 2 months ago. I worked on trying to get rid of the issue for about 10 days. In the end I had to wipe my entire hard drive clean, reinstall everything and purchase a new monitor. It was not a good time. Good luck.

You do realize that's a peripheral device and has nothing to do with viruses I hope?

    Re: Virus Help

That's what I thought but I think the virus fried my monitor as well. It was crazy. One day my monitor was working fine but I had this virus, then that night I had a crazy party at my place where I head butted my monitor numerous times to impress the strange that was trolling around the party and the next day the monitor didn't work. You do the math.

Why? Just why do you think you need to make things worse than they are by telling half truths?

I don't know if I can even believe that you had to wipe your hard drive clean... What with a handiwipe? Is that your half truth there too?

Does anyone have any real advice/solutions?

Did you try clearing your cookies? Did Spybot turn anything up?

Yes, I had to format my hard drive and re-install everything on it...just like I said in my first post in this thread. I hope you won't have to, but I did. Let's just move on.

Spybot turned up nothing. I'm not home now to clean up cookies. I hope I don't have to re-do my hard-drive... I don't even know if I have all the damn disks that came with my laptop still.
