    Chicago Parking

I'm heading to Thursday's Cubs vs. Cards game at Wrigley. Unlike past trips, all my college buddies have moved from Chicago, so I have no where to stay or park.

We will be driving over and back for the game, so looking for the best places to park and leave the car for the day. Money isn't really an issue as long as we have a safe place to park and we can take the train to Wrigley from there.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

If you get their early enough, park out in Aurora and take the train from there. It'll ptobably save you time coming home. I found their train parking lot to be clean and well lit.

I'm using the RTA Trip Planner now. Any idea what the location of that is?

Its a day game...you can park within a couple miles of Wrigley in the neighborhoods and just walk it. We do it all the time and traffic is never that bad leaving.

    Here is the website...
    Metra / Aurora Station Information
It should give you time to read the paper into town, and time to sober up heading back out.

If you are going to do a park and ride, I am pretty sure there are a lot closer ways to do it than Aurora, unless you want to avoid the city other than the game.

We do this often too, although never for a Cardinals game. Most games are sold out these days anyways so it probably doesn't make much difference who they're playing anymore. It might take some patience driving and walking a bunch, but we've typically been able to find a spot west of Wrigley between there and Ashland, maybe 4-5 blocks either side of Addison.

    Re: Chicago Parking

You can always do a park and ride on the northwest side of town and take the blue line downtown to the red line. Drops you a few feet from Wrigley Field. I am pretty sure many of the blue line stops out near the end have lots and it would be about 20 miles closer than Aurora. But again, if you want to avoid the city and just go to the game, Aurora may be simpler.

    Re: Chicago Parking

I'll agree that they're may be more park and ride locations closer, but if you'd like a location that you'll feel safe leaving your car I'll vouch for Aurora. Besides me, Wayne and Garth will agree it Excellent!

Party on! And riding the Metra is probably more fun than riding the EL :)

    Re: Chicago Parking

I've done them all. Either way the end result of Cards vs. Cubs in Wrigley equals a good time.

My friends and I usually park at O'Hare. It's 5 bucks for long term parking, and then we ride the train and spend all day in town.

Every time I go to Wrigley I just park at Forest Park and ride the blue line. It's fast and easy and I think it's 2 bucks to park.

    Re: Chicago Parking

My sister lives on the West side of the loop and we always can find a spot during the late morning or day there and take the blue to red line up to Wrigley.
Anywhere that is like a neighborhood where you don't need a zone permit works pretty well.
