    Local music

Came across a band from Story City called Radio Moscow. IMO they are a pretty hot band.

    Re: Local music

I had the chance to catch two of their shows about a year ago. Their self-titled album is fantastic, and they definitely don't disappoint live either. The guitar player is extremely talented, easily one of the best I've heard, and it is amazing how much noise just three people can make.

I definitely recommend them to fans of the Black Keys or other blues-rock groups (they are on Dan Auerbach's label).

A guy I work with is in a band. I'm trying to remember the name. It's Dharma something, names after a Jack Kerouac story.

    Re: Local music

Radio Moscow is on the verge of being yet another big breakout from Story County. I saw a few of their shows last year; they are very good.

Check out The Anytime, too- I'd say they're next in line for fame and fortune after Radio Moscow. I think they had a CD release party at the M-Shop in this weekend or next weekend?

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

I saw Radio Moscow in the basement of a house on Hyland Ave. Great live band and I would love to see those guys continue to be successful.

I've been a fan of Des Moines' Mindrite for quite a while now. They may be on the brink of breaking through.
