    Handedness

Since we've been on the topic of kids lately- here's a genetics question.

    I'm left-handed. My wife is also left-handed.

Is our baby girl a lock for the awesome greatness that is left-handedness or is it not that easy to figure out?

Also, because I know you smartasses, the mailman is also left-handed.

    Re: Handedness

    Google to the rescue:

Understanding Genetics: Human Health and the Genome

"So if two lefties had a baby, the baby should turn out left-handed. This is not the case for your family or lots of others either.

When people have looked at handedness, it just doesn't follow simple rules. For example, if both parents are right-handed, there is a 1 in 10 chance of having a left-handed child. The same is true if the dad is left-handed. If the mother is left-handed, the odds rise to 2 in 10. And if both parents are left-handed, the child has a 4 in 10 chance of being left-handed."

    Re: Handedness

You and your wife sound like huge studs!! Hopefully your child is born w/ the same greatness

My 2 year old is already a dudd as he is left handed. Me and my wife are trying again b/c I can't have him be my legacy. I will tie my next kids right arm behind their back if I have too

    Re: Handedness

On a curious related note, that nerf ball with the fins on the back that had a counter in it? Doesn't work for lefties. My son throws left handed (he does nearly everything else right handed) and boy did that counter thing **** him off!

    Re: Handedness

My best friend was appearing to be left handed so his Dad would punish him for using it because it is a right handed world. He eventually became right handed and should be out of prison on early release soon.

Why wouldn't you want your baby to be right?

Is this serious? Since she's going to be a dual sport star for ISU in vball and bball, being a lefty will give her that extra edge!

recruiting class of 2026 watch out!
