    Selling over the internet

What's the safest way to sell a big ticket item over the internet? I tried Craig's List but people keep asking me to give them my pay-pal account and i heard they can get the item and ask for their money back in the end...

    Anybody use E-bay?

    What is advice?

Depends on what you are trying to sell.

I like craigs because it is free. Ebay is a good one, but you have to be active and set your item apart from the rest. It can get tiresome unless you have the time and will. Half.com is good as well and doesnt require bidding, also owned by ebay.

    Re: Selling over the internet

Make sure you only sell local on Craigslist. Almost all people using money orders and paypal are scammers.

eBay used to be so nice to use, now there are so many people using it as a business - which is too bad. It was so nice 10 years ago when it was just random people selling things.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

Just save it for the next time. She'll be impressed that you're recycling. Chics dig that in a guy.

Thats a tough one. I personally would have trouble with buying jewelry off of the internet. Have you been to local jewelers and such? Ebay would probably be the best bet I guess.

    Re: Selling over the internet

It's not my ring, helping a friend. He found it in a parking lot, turned it in, nobody claimed it, so they gave it back to him.

Anyway, we went to Ames Silversmith and they gave us an appraisal. It's appraised at $2750. Just trying to figure out how to sell it. Tried Craig's list and I have just received various emails saying the same thing about a brother, son, uncle in London who needs a ring and they will pay via paypal. I don't trust those emails, so would like to try something else.

    Thanks for your help.

    Re: Selling over the internet

You can explore ebay but you will get considerably less than that. I'd keep it on CL - cash and cary only and check out a pawn shop or two.

Oh, and since it wasnt from an ex of either of you - you can definitely reuse it ;)

Take it back to that jewler and sell it to them. He'll take a cut, but any profit is going to be 100%.

Craigslist can be very nice. Only take cash though. Ive heard that sometimes people use stolen checks on craigslist, because by the time that you figure out its a bad check (unlike the stores which have automatic readers) theyre long gone.

    Re: Selling over the internet

I would say craigslist, local only, cash only, and meet them somewhere public.

Amen. I used to love ebay before it was all businesses and they had a monopoly with Paypal. Now I avoid ebay for the most part.
