    Colorado looked horrible

I can't believe we got beat by Colorado. They are a very poor team. They get about 200 fans and look like a high school team.

Roby gets to push off every time he breaks to the wing and he constantly shuffles feet. They called travel once.

The refs did not call this like a normal game in the B12. They called touch fouls and didn't let the players play.

I HATE LOSING TO CU. I have no idea why we play so poorly there no matter the status of each team. So frustrating to watch tonight. Oh well, gotta play tough against K-State.

    Re: Colorado looked horrible

We played poorly due to immaturity. We did not listen to the coach and thought we could win the game by ourselves. We saw the 2500 fans and we knew we had it eon. We were up at hlllftime and we were too confident. We forgot humble pie and we had never seen girly refs before. We thought we could shoot threes at high altitude but our balloon was grounded. We forgot to pass inside to Jiri and we just thought Mike or Dodie would win the game for us. We got sloppy and we never recovered. We had our chances and we plain blew it. We are now rethinking that we need to become a team again.

The refs were about what you could expect for a Big XII road game. No worse. We just didn't show up.

    Re: Colorado looked horrible

    THE BAD
We had 1 STEAL, they had 11 steals. Glue stuck on our shoes?
Brock, Dodie, Cory Mc went 1 for 12. Ugly Betty time.

    THE UGLY
Mike was 4 for 14 with 7 turnovers and fouled out.
    20 team turnovers

    THE GOOD
Cory was 4 for 4, Jiri was 7 for 13 and 7 boards, Rahshon was 3 for 6 and 5 boards, Gray had 5 boards, Wesley was 6 for 13 and 14 boards
    39-38 rebounding edge.
    Roby had a tough night.

    SYNOPSIS:
The guards lost the game for the centers and forwards. The guards played MeBall. How can you win with such atrocious guard play?

Does anyone else just cringe when Jacobson enters the game? I dont mean to be a jerk but he just doesnt look like he belongs on the floor at all. He played very very poorly tonight. That 3 pointer he took and got blocked in his face when we had open guys under the basket was a big turning point.

Same goes for McIntosh but not to such a large extent.

I agree completely. We'll look back in a few years and hopefully laugh at the difference in talent between now and what we'll have at the time. No way Brock Jacobson finds anything but splinters in his ***** a few years from now. At least I hope...for Pete's sake, my crotchety 78 year old neighbor has a quicker release

    Re: Colorado looked horrible

Momma said there'd be days like this. That's what kept running through my head the whole game. We all know that GMAC has a tough job this year, and this game just brought that reality back to us. Too many threes again. You could tell McDermott was trying to coach them and substitute them back into the game, but they were just plain flat, and took a step backwards. The good news is, he will have plenty of ugly game film to review, and they will learn from it.

It's hard to pinpoint why the Clones always seem to struggle in Boulder, but part of it may be the complete lack of atmosphere. Averaging 3000 fans a game? You've got to be kidding me! Is the AD there asleep at the wheel, or do they not need a successful basketball program? I also thought that in the past, there had been more Cyclone fans at Boulder. It seems like they always outcheered the Colorado fans. Maybe they just didn't have much to cheer about.

No kidding. I have no ideal how they make any money in athletics. Their football attendance is no better than ours, if not worse.

It's just too bad we had to play this poorly at CU. I don't think they'll win more that two or three games all year in the conference. Meanwhile, we need to protect our home court...

I tell you what though. That altitude has alot to do with it. I play bball here all the time and am in fairly decent shape. When i go to Colorado and hike with my uncle, Im dying 20 minutes in. I dont know how these guys run the floor for 40 minutes and not pass out. It really knocks the wind out of you. They made some stupid mistakes but I think getting tired fast hurts. There is no way to prepare for that.

    Re: Colorado looked horrible

Our 4 guards had probably their worst game of the year. Shot 5 of 26 with 12 turnovers.

Thought Cory Johnson had one of his best games with 4-4 sooting and 10 points in 10 minutes. Would have liked to see him play more.

Depth on the bench solves the altitude problem...play the subs and keep the starters fresh. If you'll notice from the boxscore, nobody played more than 30 minutes. Cory Johnson produced points off the bench. Dunson and Jacobson didn't.

I'm hoping that during this week's remaining practices, certain guards will be "reminded" that when their shots are not dropping and the post players are pretty much scoring at will, that the appropriate thing to do is to pass the into ball post players, and not to continue heaving up bricks. Or better yet, remind them that passing to the post in most cases should be the first thing on their mind, rather than firing up 3's.
