What can we expect next year?

So let's all just assume the worst and say CB is gone...so now we have a starting line-up looking something along the lines of:

    Buckley/Colvin/Garret
    Colvin/Boozer/Christopherson
    Gilstrap/Lucca
    Dendy/Vand
    Hamilton/Pomlee

What can we expect as far as the season goes next year. I mean i realize this season just ended the other day but Id like to get somewhat of an idea of what to expect. Am I wrong for thinking that we may actually do better without Craig? I mean if Gilstrap can really score like some people say he can and if guys like colvin and dendy can come in and contribute why cant we have hope? Also, most players improve the most from their sophmore to their junior years in college so guys like Garrett and Lucca and Boozer could improve drastically. Maybe I'm just makin all this up but i think that this young team from last year (even though we might lose our superstar) could compete even better next year.

A whole lot of aches and pains, the same as the past 3 years.

Re: What can we expect next year?

We'll be better next year, my caveat to that is I said we'd be better this year too. Really though I think we'll be better next year, we'll be in that 18 win range and be hoping for an NIT invite.

If Brackins is gone, I would expect no better than a .500 season.

Re: What can we expect next year?

If Brackins is gone I would really like to see Gilstrap, JVB and Hamilton (with some help from Dendy and Pomelee if they can give us anything) rotate at the 4 and 5 spots and then just have three guards in at all time. Hopefully with the focus of the offense not trying to get it into Craig everytime, we will have some good movement and get open shots for the shooters. And I wouldn't hate it if we threw a zone defense in there every once in a while.

Re: What can we expect next year?

It just seems our only problem is we just don't know whos gonna score our points. But Gilstrap was averaging 23 some points per game in JUCO last year, and if Garrett and Lucca can become more reliable shooters as well as havin a guy like colvin or boozer contributing from the bench we could be solid. I really don't know what to expect from Dendy or Pomlee but two big bodies to put down low with solid guard play at the top should allow up to be competitive. Without craig we lack a true superstar but I'd say we have plenty of depth or options anyway...

    Is our coach coming back?

Then I would expect more of the same. (1) guy trying to dribble, (4) guys sitting around the 3-point line.

Re: What can we expect next year?

A fourth straight losing season. And that's regardless of Brackins coming back or not.
Our main problem is not our players, though our talent level is a serious issue.
The problem is our coach can't coach.
Did South Dakota State have better players than us?
Did Hawaii have better players than us?
Do they have first round NBA draft players on their teams?
    Mcdermott gets out-coached every game.
Getting better players isn't going to change that.

Love it! Sadly you are probably 100% correct.
