Soriano just about took Latroy Hawkins all the way out of the stadium. Wow!!!! He bounced it off the roof.

WGN must be holding out for boatloads of cash from DirecTv or something. It really sucks. I'm always happy when games are on Comcast so they're in HD.

I don't know even mediacom has WGN HD I would imagine if they wanted boatloads of cash mediacom would still be holding out.

Perhaps WGN HD is only available in Chicago using "old school" antennas.

    Re: WGN HD on DirectTv?

ImOn in Cedar Rapids has WGN HD...as much as I LOVE Chicago...it is a useless channel to have in HD other than for sports! And I don't watch any NBA games so it comes down to watching the White Sox or Cubs on WGN HD...other than that I don't even turn that channel on!

Does CR have a choice for cable providers?

God I would love that in DSM. Make MediaCom actually compete instead of just running the town.

I was trying to watch the Cubbies last night and the reception on that channel is miserable

Yep. Mediacom or ImOn Communications (formerly McLeod), which is locally owned. ImOn was GREAT at the beginning...but they are creeping up to the point that their prices are very similar to Mediacom and their offerings not much different! Hello to investigating DirectTV!

Yeah - I'm right there too. Problem is the trees in our neighborhood.

I asked this months ago (and I don't mean to derail the thread) but the major issue for my wife about getting DTV is the OnDemand functionality. This is somewhat new with DTV - anybody have a comment on it? How well it works? Does it take a long time? Is there a wide availabilty of OnDemand programming for the premium channels? From what I understand you can hook your receiver up to the internet and download programs?

(Yes - I know you can record on DVR. Not the question)

Also - is there a DTV retail store in DSM? Someplace where we can see these types of things and have questions not answered by a 18 y/o part time employee who doesn't really know, ala Best Buy.
