    Minnesota Football Coach on KFAN

Did any other Cyclone Fans living in the Twin Cities hear the ridiculous comments made over the last couple of days about Tim Brewster, the new Gophers Coach?

According to several of the DJ's on the local sports station, KFAN, Tim Brewster was ISU's main target from day one after McCarney resigned.
And, Brewster withdrew his name from the list of candidates, not because ISU told him he was not "the guy", but because Brewster didn't think he could be successful @ ISU.

    What a load of CRAP!

I've even had a few co-workers who are Minnesota alumni, mock me because they think they landed the guy we wanted.

I suppose that the local media needs to try and shed some positive light (albeit false) on situation that most goooopher fans are not happy about!

Next time a Gopher fan gives you crap, ask them how many people they think saw the nationally televised beat down Illinois is giving them at home right now.

Former UT assistant Brewster candidate for Iowa State job

Tim Brewster, a former Texas assistant, has surfaced among the candidates for the opening at Iowa State, an NFL official confirmed to the Chronicle. Brewster, currently an assistant with the Denver Broncos, has not been contacted about the job, but is said to be interested.
The Sporting News first reported Brewster as a possible candidate on Wednesday. Texas co-defensive coordinator Gene Chizik could also be a candidate.
Long-time Iowa State coach Dan McCarney stepped down Wednesday. He will coach the final two games for the Cyclones.

I can hardly believe that. If you ask me, there is a big difference between hiring Chizik and hiring Brewster.

See, I've found your problem right here. You're listening to KFAN.

There is no rationale, rhyme, or reason to ANYTHING on Minnesota sports radio. I was listening to it on the way to the ISU-Minnesota MBB game this year, hoping for some analysis. They weren't even talking about it. I think the whole conversation was about how Morneau won the MVP after they got swept by the A's....then a quick mention on how the FB team got an invite to the Insight.com bowl. On that note, I caught some again over Christmas. They didn't even know who they were playing in the Insight bowl, I think they were talking about Oklahoma State, not Texas Tech. A Gopher friend of mine asked about TT. I just smiled and told him, "Get ready. You're about to witness an aerial assault the likes of which neither you nor your conference has ever seen before."

Mr. ("Common Man" Dan) Cole, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in your listening area is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Re: Minnesota Football Coach on KFAN

I heard that tidbit about Brewster on KFAN this morning too, I believe it was a guy called the "Fargo Flash" that said that Brewster turned us down. As soon as I heard it I couldn't believe it.

Minnesota football has sucked for so long that the fans up here are gripping for anything that will make them believe that their new hire with no head coaching experience will bring them out of the stone-age. I'll take Chizik over Brewster any day.

Thank God we got our number 2 guy! Haha those silly Goofer fans.

Oh, and ask them how much money they've spent between that firm to do their coaching search, Mason's buyout, and Dan Monson

    God I love Jamie Pollard

seeing how the Gophers thought they could get Tony Dungy out of Indianapolis, I think they are trying to say whatever they can to make themselves feel better about what they got in Brewster.

Ask them if they want your ex-girlfriend too. Or maybe an old prom date.

Fargo is the center of the universe as far as sports information goes. Everyone knows that.

If they said this about Brewstwer, the similar people probbly said this about Harbaugh and his hiring. And Kelly. And Kragthorpe. And Joe Smith. And Bob Brown. Spinmeisters, one and all.

Re: Minnesota Football Coach on KFAN

Here's my take...ISU was interested in Brewster, but he was the third pick after Chizik and the Central MI coach. I am GLAD we did not get Brewster. He promised to win the Big 10 for the Gophers and is sounding like a faith-healer. That is a huge mistake, to raise expectations to unachievable levels. To crawl over both Ohio State and Michigan, not to mention Penn State, Indiana and even Iowa will take forever, and he won't last that long. Chizik has handled it the right way. Low on hype, long on substance. He is definately our guy. Minnesota pep rally for new coach drew 80 people...embarassing for the school. (I think there we very few choices left for MINNESOTA>I later found out with 100% certainity that this guy was never contacted by Iowa State...

Outside of Gopher hockey, isn't the Twin Cities more of a pro sports market anyway?
