    Cutler's new favorite target?

I didn't actually get to read the article because I don't pay for ESPN Insider, but sometimes you can garner a lot of info from the headlines. I knew the Bears were needing receivers to make the Cutler trade mean anything, but are they really THIS desperate?

NFL Football Rumors - NFL Rumors - National Football League Rumor Central - ESPN

EDIT - didn't realize initially that the headline wouldn't pop up, but rumors are the Bears are in the market for Plax...

Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

IDK. Plaxico could end up in jail and the NFL could always suspend him. The Bears already mortgaged their future by getting a QB that's slightly better than what they had before. It would be dumb to pay some $$ for a high risk guy like Plax.

    I don't believe this for a second.

the source is carol slezak, not the bears or anyone related. It is slezak lobbying for him.

the rumormill is just that. holt has publicly stated that he has no interest in playing for the bears but people keep talking about it.

I know you are a Vikings fan but you lose all credability when you say things like this.

Cutler 2008 vs. ALL-TIME Bears Passing records

    Cutler 2008: 4,526 yards, 25 TDs
    Bears ALL-TIME Record: 3,838 yards, 29 TDs

Yep, he is only slightly better. In fact, if 2008 Cutler was on the Bears he would own about 3/4 of the Bears all-time passing records.

If Sid Luckman doesn't own 3/4 of the Bears records, something's wrong with the way records are kept in Chicago. And if Jay Cutler would own more records than Sid Luckman after one year, then something bigger is wrong.

I don't know if I agree with that. He had Brandon Marshall and Co. to throw to. Who does Chicago have for him to throw to? You can't just throw screen after screen to Hester and expect him to get you 300 yards receiving each game. The Bears biggest offensive weapon last season was in the backfield (Forte).

Orton missed Hester time and time again downfield last year. The Broncos also had very little running game last year in comparison to years past.

Nice point. Don't forget Cutler also had a stud WR and threw the 2nd most INTs in the league. He also threw it much more than Orton which is why he has high yardage #s.

Let's compare Cutler and Orton real quick:

Cutler Stats: 7.35 YPA, 25 TDs, 18 INTs, 86 Rating
Orton Stats: 6.39 YPA, 18 TDs, 12 INTs, 79 Rating

Something to look at though is that Orton was dumping off in the backfield all the time. Also, I'd rather have 18TDs to 12 INTs than 25 TDs to 18 INTs, as it is a better ratio.

Lets look at some more guys:

    Jeff Garcia 2008 Stats: 7.21 YPA, 12 TDs, 6 INTs, 90.2 Rating
Byron Leftwich Career Stats: 6.69 YPA, 1.42 TD to INT Ratio, and a 80.3 QB rating

Leftwich is still young and would probably put up similar #s to Cutler... But keep telling yourself this was a good trade and I have no credibility...

The biggest indicator in their performance is Cutler's YPA....which is a FULL YARD more than Orton. Do you really think Cutler is just slightly better than Orton...ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You really must be sipping the 'Orton's From Iowa so he must be good' Kool-Aid or you just don't know jack about football.

Cutler has a rocket arm, had over 3000 yards passing in each of his last two seasons and has only really played in 3 seasons. He is just about to hit his prime, and I really think he has the potential to be as good or better than Carson Palmer.

If you put Brandon Marshall and had Mike Shannhan on the Bears, I think Orton would have some pretty good numbers. Who is the Bears #1 WR? Hester? He's an idiot that runs backwards trying to make the big play!

I wonder if you won't see Braylon Edwards traded. I think Boldin and Chad Johnson could also be traded. I think it would cost more to get Boldin than one of the others. BTW why don't the Bears try and sign Torry Holt?

    Re: Cutler's new favorite target?

This draft is deep in WR. Everyone just likes to look at the top 5 guys when it comes to talent at the WR position. Which is true most years. There will still be a lot of value in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, plus JD from Rice will go on the 2nd day of the draft. He will be a good pick up for any team going that late.

Exactly. Just moving a player doesn't mean that you can just move their statistics. It's much harder to have good passing #s with no receivers.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
