    Rock Band Drum Silencers

I'm thinking about buying the drum silencer pads from Gamestop. I believe they are about $20. I've read some good reviews of them. Anyone have them? Do they do the job? I can't stand the "tick tick tick" of the default pad covers. I really need to crank my music to be able to hear the music.

    I have them..

If you hit loudly, the pads are a good investment.(no mama jokes here )

However, that's the problem, the pads drain the sound out, sometimes the notes don't come in if you don't hit hard enough.

If you live in an apartment, they definetely do the job.

I don't live in an apartment but I do hit hard. I've tried to play softly but I can't stay in sync that way.

Agreed. They do a great job of drowning the sound, but can get frustrating. It takes some getting use to.

Hmmm...Maybe I won't like them then. I'll try them out. If I don't like them, do they come off without damaging the original pad?

There is some info online that will tell you which drum kits these work on. I have some of the early drums and they don't work well with those models. I believe there have been 3 different versions of the RB drums.

I have the Drums that came with RB1 Special Edition where they sold RB, drums, mic, and guitar all in one box. The pads I was looking at said "universal". I'll ask the geeks at gamespot before I buy them.

    They probably won't know.

Look underneath the drums and it should say either EL or QM. If yours say QM than you're good-to-go. If you have EL than they will fit but you will constantly miss beats.

I do have ELs. Hmmm.... Now I'm not sure what to do. I could just leave them loud and play when the kid isn't sleeping. :)
