Uht oh... NBA Draft Remarks Regarding Brackins

DraftExpress: Blogging through the Final Four (Part One)

Craig Brackins is leaving the Iowa State program, according to multiple sources. The coaching staff has already moved on, and is actively looking to replace his scholarship for next season. Brackins is considered highly unlikely to return next season. Some NBA teams we’ve spoken with have him rated as high as the late lottery.

    Re: Uht oh...

Not a good start to my day.

EDIT: I'm happy for CB in whatever he chooses (I personally don't think he can make a bad decision here), but I reserve the right to be bitter for awhile if he goes pro.

    Re: Uht oh...

If Craig is projected (by multiple legitimate sources) to go in the late lottery, he should certainly go for it. This stuff changes nearly every day, and projected late lottery picks can easily drop to the late first or early second, which would not be in his best interests.

    Re: Uht oh...

Some encouraging notes from his profile:

DraftExpress NBA Draft Prospect Profile: Craig Brackins, Stats, Comparisons, and Outlook

"Brackins’ package of size, skill, and productivity have cemented his status as a draft prospect, even if his athletic ability leaves something to be desired. At 21 years old, he is a full year older then the majority of prospects in the sophomore class. While the NBA will certainly be an option at the conclusion of this season, he might have a chance to really make a run at being a high pick in 2010, given the plethora of skilled big men who could make the jump this season."

I'm not surprised but I would be disappointed if he left.

What? A voice of reason? We don't need any of that around here.

C'mon, some interweb guy -- who named himself president of his own blog, nice touch by the way -- posted that Craig might leave under the heading of "rumor mill". That's more than enough to justify a full scale meltdown!

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

OP was 8:14am on a Sunday morning. The meltdown posters are still hungover and in bed. You will see the meltdown later tonight, after they start drinking again.

    Re: Uht oh...

Wierd since one of the coaches I talked with just yesterday said Brackins has not made a decision yet one way or another.

Likely though Brackins will declare without hiring an agent to test the waters. The same advice we would all give our sons if in the same situation.
