Moving to the Iowa City area

I am being transferred to the I.C. area this summer for my job. I am a hardcore STATE fan with ISU plates and my closet is 90% ISU apparel. Anybody live in the area to give me advice on where to possibly live? Tiffin?NorthLiberty?Coralville? I know there are plenty of State fans in the area but I am not familiar with the eastern side of the state at all. I hope there will be a cyclone club function around the area this summer as well. Just looking for a little advice.

    Thanks

I would recommend North Liberty. It's a short drive down to Iowa City (with 4 lane highway) and I think you'd get a lot more for your money because of the obvious college town inflation of Iowa City.

Just make sure you get your shots before you move.

Coralville and Iowa City have high property taxes so if you are looking to own a house stay away from those areas. I wanted to live in North Liberty, it's a growing area with a lot of young people living there. My wife didn't so I'm stuck in Lone Tree.

Tiffin is not a bad area either. Solon is close as well and offers a little bit more small town life but is a nice community.

A prisoner gets transferred but a shafted employee can get a different job.

Seriously though I grew up in that part of the state and I'd go either North Liberty or Coralville. Despite all the squak fans it's not too bad...just be glad they're not transferring you to somewhere truly awful like spencer, forrest city, or sioux city.

Some points of advice. Never ever honk at someone. They may just punch you in the face for it. And if you ever encounter a football player, run and find the nearest cop. There should be one near by since I hear they are following all football players waiting for them to break the law.

North Liberty looks like the sexy pic so far. I will get my shots. At least I will be heading NorthWest on Gameday while all the squawks will be heading into there so called National championship city this year..

Can you provide more details about what part of town you are working, age, kids, buying or renting, etc.? Really hard to make a recommendation with what you've given so far.

Re: Moving to the Iowa City area

I lived in Coralville for a number of years while I went to high school and college, so I can't comment on the cost of living there, but it is a nice area. North Liberty has come a long way in a short period of time. Early 2000's I wouldn't have ever considered moving there, but lately it's begun to look very attractive.

Re: Moving to the Iowa City area

I am actually going to be a field claims adjuster for an insurance company based out of West Des Moines I have worked there for about two years now and it is time for a move in my career. I will actually be working out of my home. My territory will be Johnson, Iowa, Washington, Louisa, and a little of Scott. I am getting married at the end of the month and we dont have kids so school districts at this point is a non issue ..
