    Final Record

What do you see ISU finishing with this year in mens basketball. I see us getting 18-19 wins make a statement for the NCAA, but will settle for the NIT and get the invaluable extra time on the court. Thoughts??

    Re: Final Record

I'm still on the fence right now....I can see this team making a run and barely getting into the dance or I can see them being 50-50 the rest of the way and easily getting into the NIT. I'll give a better opinion in a couple weeks...

    Re: Final Record

I would guess finishing with about 17 or 18 wins and roughly going .500 in the conference. ( not too bad for what most people think is our rebuilding year ) We could be scary good here in a couple years

    Re: Final Record

i think 18 wins plus a win or 2 in the big 12 tournament would get us in easily...thats banking on a couple upsets though

    Re: Final Record

While I am excited about the prospects of next year, I am not giving up hope for this year and making the NCAA's. We have to go 11-5 in the Bix XII and win atleast 1 game in the BIg XII tournament to have a record of 21-11. I know that those prospects are slim to none but you never know how much better they can get over the last 13 games of this season.

    Re: Final Record

I really don't see us losing again at home. That's 6 more wins right there. I see us winning at Colorado tomorrow too.

That's all though. The road games left are pretty tough with KU, Neb, KSU, Texas, Texas A&M and Okie State.

That is 9-7 in the conference and what, 18-12 overall?

I honestly think 9-7 will get any team no worse than the #6 seed in the Big 12 tourney. Win two in the tourney and I think we could sneak in the NCAAs.

I think we're a NIT team though, which is very good from McDermott's first year.

But seriously...go through the entire Big 12 schedule for each team and pic each game...I have ISU and KSU as 5th and 6th when it's all said and done at 9-7. Texas Tech and OU may be decent, but south teams are going to beat each other up all year.

    Re: Final Record

I'd be happy with the NIT and thrilled to make the NCAA tourney. A young team still learning the system needs all the extra playing time they can get.

    Re: Final Record

Forget the NIT, we have a good chance of going to the NCAA's if we play to our abilities. Watching the Okie State vs. Texas game both of these teams are beatable. They play so fast and make many of dumb little errors and play young. Yes, they have young great talent but so did Kansas and Ohio State. In fact I don't think you can put either of these teams to that talent level. I think we slow both Okie State and Texas down and give them a run for there money and beating at least one of them in a BIG upset!!!

    Re: Final Record

Texas and OSU are beatable...but on the road? That will be tough. Can we do it? If we play our best games, we could, but I am not banking on either of them at all.

    Re: Final Record

I'm not banking on them either as that would be insane with our young team. But I sure as heck am not counting them out either. We played OSU on the road and this team was not phased by that.

    Re: Final Record

I'll still think we're going to end up 16-14 (7-9) in the conference. I mean we beat two Big 12 teams that are pretty weak and Nebraska had a major player hobbled with an injury. In reality we easily could have lost the Mizzou game. If that's the case we could be talking about picking up the Colorado game as a must win for the NIT. I think some people are just getting a little ahead of themselves here.

    Re: Final Record

If we go 9-7 in the conferance with at least two upsets I think we've got a shot at the tourney. That was our exact record two years ago. We just need to go 7-6 from hear on out plus at least one Big XII tourny win and I think we're in.

    Re: Final Record

Six conf wins is realistic. Things get much tougher. We beat Mizzou who is 0fer the Big 12 season, and Nebraska also 0fer.
We lost to KU in a good game.

Anywhere from 6-7 wins is most likely.

    Re: Final Record

    Go Cyclones!

But....Do you guys realize that there is only one Cyclone Coach to ever finish with a better then .500 record in Big Twelve Conference play...?

    Tim Floyd was exactly .500

    Larry E..was a couple over

Pretty big wish for "Mac" to do it this soon with this young team...?

A season record of .500 or better would be great...16-14 (Overall)would be HUGE!

    Re: Final Record

And this is mainly due to Turnover Mike and Jiri Still Out. What a change. Now if we could get one m,ore player to step up his game to the next tier and we will be rolling. Maybe Ross can get productive.
