    Could Iowa Fans Buy Tickets...

Is it possible for Iowa fans to buy ISU season tickets for the same price they'd probably pay through eBay or another ticket broker for the Iowa/ISU game only, then turn around and throw away the tickets for the rest of the ISU games, thus creating a bunch of empty seats at Trice for those games?

    I could see that happening.

Re: Could Iowa Fans Buy Tickets...

I don't think they would throw them away, they would probably sell them on ebay. How many times last year were there tickets on Ebay for less than $20 for a pair? Way too many times...

Re: Could Iowa Fans Buy Tickets...

They could sell them on eBay, yes. But my point is, what if Iowa fans wanted to make ISU look bad with a bunch of empty seats? So instead of selling them, they attend the Iowa/ISU game at the price they'd probably pay for the game on eBay, then just throw away the rest of the games.

Dumb move if you ask me because we're still getting the money for ticket sales, but creating a less than hostile environment with a bunch of empty seats could be a motive.

Far fetched I know, but just a thought.

I don't think the hawk fans are that advanced in thinking yet to possibly think of something like that. They just figured out the whole internet thing only a couple years ago and they are still at the stage where a flip phone is "cool". So nobody give them any ideas to throw tickets away.

    Could that happen? Sure.

How much did that happen back in '05. I know a bunch were talking about doing such a thing, but how many actually did?

I really think the number of people who'll go through that ordeal, or fork out $350 are few and far between. They're out there to be sure. But enough to worry about their impact?????

They will try to buy up right away the grass tickets and the end zone sections for $150 or $195 for three marketable games. And they don't have any options which makes the decision easier.

Re: Could Iowa Fans Buy Tickets...

I don't think many - if any - of the endzone seats will see the light of day. And I expect that current ticket holders will get a healthy number of hillsides as well, to make up for the singles they can't get. And since the endzones were sold out last year - I wonder how many of either will be available when they do on sale to the general public. Note too that the on-sale date isn't until May.

And as I said elsewhere that I'm not sure how "marketable" those other games will be. We'll see.

You know, you always here about the ticket going for $400 a piece on EBay, or some outrageous number. But that's only ever a handful of tickets. Some poster put it up earlier. - Alot of people talk about getting tickets expecting to sell them for a huge payday, and it always seems there's plenty of stories AFTER the game of how people got in at or under face because tons of scalpers were just trying to get rid of tickets.

Quite a few Nebraska fans bought USC season tickets, sold the other 6 on eBay and ended up making money on the whole thing.

Re: Could Iowa Fans Buy Tickets...

ISU isn't USC. I think you give UI too much credit for their bank accounts. I don't think their alumni make too much more than ISU. A lot of the disparity is derived from non-alumni. You won't see too many buying regular section season tickets just for the game unless they are willing to pay a ridiculous amount just for a single game which many probably won't.
    Factors that will hinder.
    - might be a bad atmosphere
    - probably going to lose money on all other game tickets even if they sell on ebay.
    - would YOU buy Iowa tickets for the game if they were only 400 for season tickets?
-ISU fans who don't buy season tickets are just as or more likely to buy tickets to sell the rest for the Iowa game rather than an Iowa fan who would be forking out money for expensive Iowa season tickets AND ISU season tickets.

I can't believe this hasn't hit the press over in Iowa City. I haven't seen anything yet, has anybody else?

Why tell the EIU Elitists that they have to buy the full package? Let them sweat they may miss the Big One. That woiuld be funny to see the sad yellow jerseys all stuck on the hillside.

Personally I think Iowa fans will not buy the season tickets out of principle. I think Jamie may have just killed the Iowa/Iowa State rivalry. I hope not, but I just don't see it.

How many of you would buy Hawkeye season tickets just to see the Iowa/Iowa State game in Iowa City if the Hawkeyes were doing this to us?

Kinnick is actually a fun place to watch a game. I have been to a few ISU v Iowa games and have always had a good time. Of course ISU won those games, so maybe that is the real reason I had so much fun there.

Kinnick has more energy than JT, but we gotta do what we need to do to change that.
