    Slammin Sammy to the Rangers?

Looks like Sosa is making a comeback tour to his place of origin. Just in case anyone cares what he is doing these days. Note that is says "minor league contract." Thats crazy.

Kinda sad seeing a once great hitter not be able to turn on a fastball only a couple of years after hitting 50+ HR's in a season. Has anyone fallen further, faster, than Sammy did?

I'd think you'd have to look in Brady Anderson's direction.

You beat me to it. Sammy Sosa is a windmill. I was not sad to see the Cubs get rid of him a few years back.

I loved Sosa for many years, but when he walked out and had just basically given up in 2004 it was bad. Looks like he might sign a minor league deal with the Rangers. they have been "impressed" with him.

Re: Slammin Sammy to the Rangers?

Hopefully he doesnt make a fool out of him self. I have been a life long cubs fan and I have alot of fond memories of Sammy, even with the way he left in 2004. No one can say he isnt one of the top 5 Cubs of all time. I would like to see his number retired someday. I think it will have to be in about 10 years, so that everyone can get over the way he left the Cubs in 2004.

I wish they would have traded him when they could have gotten a load of young prospects for him.

Re: Slammin Sammy to the Rangers?

I wonder if Sammy every bought a new boom box after Mark Prior smashed it to smithereens back in 2004?
Sosa is a cheater and a liar. "I took the wrong bat." BULLS&%$!!!!
And you have to put a huge asterisk next to any of his accomplishments. I know he never offically tested positive but it's obvious he did it.
I will be very suprised to ever see him step into the batters box in a major league staduim again. Unless the Rangers are just trying to use him to sell tickets then they might bring him up.

As harsh as the truth is for Sammy, true Cubs fans will never forget what he did: his unforgettable home run derby, the chase for 61 with Big Mac, the homer to send the playoff game into extra innings at Wrigley from which I about jumped from my 3rd floor dorm room of Helser Hall into the forth floor (stupid Marlins). Those moments are forever immortalized in my mind because there hasn't been much excitement in Wriglyville lately.

i would love to see sammy make the triple a team if he were desperate enough to play their. I think the I-cubs play them. Oklahoma red hawks. That would be sweet to see him play here

I can't believe Sammy would play in the minors if he doesn't make the team after Spring Training.

Now, if college baseball players can use aluminum bats, can minor leaguers use corked bats and HGH?
