    Re: Anderson staying at Mizzou

He is a good coach don't get me wrong but I still think a good chunk of why Mizzou is/was successful is a combination of players and a unique (some could gimmicky) game plan.

I think they will be a great deal worse next year without 3 of their starters in cluding their un-disputed best player Carroll. He built this team almost entirely on transfer and JUCOs, which usually isn't a recipe for success. We'll see what the outcome of this is. I think if he went somewhere where basketball is king (Memphis?) he could really rock but Mizzou is and will always be football first and bandwagoners. They start losing a couple games and their stadium will be empty as it was at the beginning of this year...

Yep, this thread has just been pwned.

We'll need to get a lot more athletic to compete with MO. Our conference just keeps getting harder and harder.

I think Greg now understands this and I suspect pretty much all new ISU recruits will be athletically talented with maybe 1 on average a year that may be just a shooter. At least I hope so.

    Re: Anderson staying at Mizzou

I'm glad he'll be staying in the conference. He seems like a good coach, and above that, a good guy. He runs a different style of play, which is good for conference teams to prepare for in anticipation of the tournament. He'll keep his players in line or suspend them; he's not going to put up with much nonsense. The Big XII has kind of been a stepping stone conference in terms of coaches either leaving or getting fired as of late. Good work by Mizzou to keep a good coach.

The only downside is that it had to be at Mizzou.

I was REALLY hoping he was gonna take the Bama job, it was rumored long time before his team blew up. Its too bad, but they lose their top 3 scorers and inside players.

Good coaches in the B12 is a good thing. If we can't compete that's our problem.

The same could be said for Eustachy but people think he's a God and should return to ISU.

Success in the Big 12 == getting as many athletes as possible and developing a game plan to best fit the athletic talents of the team. Good job Mike Anderson!!

Yeah, it would really suck to make it to the tourney every couple of years, and make it to the Elite 8. I can't think of any reason why ISU would want that.

Who cares why he was successful? He was successful--we aren't. I'd switch in a heartbeat.

That is the same thing they said about Texas Tech football for the last 10 years. They also are in the top 10 every year.

Also The Mizzou system is the same system the Nolan Richardson won a National Title with at Arkansas. So basically it's a proven system. It works. I actually love that style of play. It's fun.

    Re: Anderson staying at Mizzou

For a team that was projected to finish in the middle of the Big 12 they definately overachieved. IMO Anderson has done an incredible job at Mizzou.
