    Colorado Game...

OK...why is no one discussing the upcoming Colorado game? We have had nothing but problems in Boulder and this game sets up perfectly for another let down.

I'm scared to death of this game and really see it defining our season. Given our play the last few games we all feel we should probably be able to pull this game out as a W, but for some reason they seem to have our number there. Of course they are 0-3 in league and we all know how ISU seems to carve a niche for giving "firsts" to opposing teams.

If the Clones can find a way to walk out with a W, I will put GMac on a very high pedastal.

I think this is a must win game for us to have any chance at NCAA or maybe even NIT.

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

    Re: Colorado Game...

My thoughts exactly! For whatever reason, lately ISU has left it's game in Ames when they travel to Bolder.

Only thing I disagree with is the possibility of an NCAA bid. That is at least a year away IMO.

    Re: Colorado Game...

I agree that this is a critical game and will be a tough one to win. Roby could cause us a lot of problems, but I don't know much about the rest of the team. After the last couple of Cyclone outings, I do have more confidence in coming out with a win than in the past few years. The staff appears to know how to get these guys ready mentally as well as having a solid game plan. With the number of players we rotate, the altitude shouldn't be as great an issue as in the past also.

Looking forward to a great game.

I think NCAA is a year away as well, but I'm a dreamer and if all the pieces fell into place...well....ya never know.

In either case, I don't know if it's the altitude or what, but we always seem to lay an egg there. I just hope GMac can get us past that.

    Re: Colorado Game...

My gut says that we might be pretty sloppy as far as turnovers go in this one. We better be all over Roby and make other guys beat us, that's for sure. If we win this one I might start losing my pesimistic road game attitude that I've had for quite a while.

    Re: Colorado Game...

I wrote this on another thread, but it seemed relevant:

The next 2 games after KU are very winnable. Colorado has been a death trap for all cyclone bball teams in the past, even when we are good. I can say that I think we are better than they are at this moment and should be able to pick that one up on the road, but it will be a battle. K-state is respectable, although they just lost one of their best players. In front of the home court, we should get that one too.

IMO, these next 2 games will go a long ways to tell us if we are a medicore team or a good team this year. I think the real telling sign will not be if we start 3-0 but if we can be at least 4-1 after the first 5 games. I am not expecting us to beat the best, but if we can beat the teams worse than us and defend the home court, 9 wins will be doable.

    Re: Colorado Game...

Basically, Colorado sucks but that never stopped them from beating us before. If Rahshon can do as good of a job guarding Roby as he did on Rush I think we have a great chance to win the game. Some telling stats from kenpom.com about Colorado:

They're offensive effective FG% is 302nd in the country. I mean that's terrible.

Also, their defensive effective FG% is 310th which is even more terrible.

Their RPI is about 250. I mean this is a game that we absolutely must win if we want to remain relevant. They play very fast 73.8 possessions per game, while we play slow 65.3 possessions per game. I mean they can't stop anybody from scoring, they can't score, they can't rebound... this is a team that doesn't do anything well. This would be an absolutely terrible loss.

I mean UL-Monroe and Norfolk State have a higher RPI than these guys.

We lose this game and it really takes away from our 2-1 record.

While we're not great, CU is far worse.

    Re: Colorado Game...

I guess I'm a little leary because the couple times I've watched them this year they've played the other team pretty tough. Granted, this has been in the first half and they then proceeded to get blown out in the 2nd half. Just worried that they might finally put 2 good halves together. That being said, if we slow the game down I think we should pull it off.

I'd pencil him in for about 8 pt. and 8 boards. maybe he can have Brock's 6 and 2 of Grays

    Re: Colorado Game...

It's going to be a tough game. CU is looking at the other north teams and thinking "we need to get a few of them at home or it's going to be a really long season" while it's a great chance for ISU to pick up another road win. A loss won't doom the team but a win would really be huge.

First, the game isn't tonight, it's tomorrow night - 8pm.

Second - people easily forget about Rahshon because he isn't high-flying as he was last year. He's been just as important part this year - if not more so. Just not as obvious.

This game scares me. This is a game that wont make our season but it most certainly can break it.
