for people that follow hs football

do any of you guys remember when Todd Blythe played high school football at Indianola (a town south of DSM)? Anyways I remember going to a Dowling game against Indianola when he broke the Class 4A record for most receiving yards in the game. I remember Dowling being up by 3 TDs midway through the 3rd quarter and then he started burning their defense and they went on to win something like 35-31. It was a big deal because I think it gave Dowling their first conference loss in like 10 years.

Anyways, do any of you guys remember when he played in high school or this game in particular?

I met him his senior year when I was a ballboy. That was pretty cool. He was really nice about it, I was I think 7th or 8th grade maybe, even though he was the opposing team, it was cool to meet someone that young that I'd eventually look up too.

I went to Indianola, and I remeber his basketball and football days. Bbball he won a state title, football not so much. Track was another thing he dominated.

I also went to Indianola with him (i was 2 years older) and remember he was good back then too. Don't remember the Dowling game, but that was probably after I graduated.

He played on our playoff football team when I was a senior we had to play Valley we needed some depth on our sideline so our 35 man squad would look a little fuller compared to their 85 man squad he was a freshman you knew then he would be a great player and he played a good amount of the playoff game.

Indianola here, too! He graduated in 2003, and I was there for the Dowling game. Great game, stupid Dowling.

We played his Indianola team my frosh year of hs football. On our tape recording of the game at home, you hear the PA guy say "Todd Blythe" on damn near every play, offense and defense. We knew at the time he would go on to be a great player somewhere.

I went to Polk so didn't have the "exposure" as others on here, but I do remember his high school days. Saw him many times play football, at least when we played them once a year. Of course I saw him more with track being that I competed more in that sport against him.

I started coaching at Dowling 2 years later and this game still gets brought up more than once a year. I believe the D-coordinator at that time is now at Ankeny.

Why are you bringing the attention on you? I believe 95% of people on this board would care more about hearing about a great former player then a current twins player seeing as how there are only some that are both twins/cyclone fans. Just saying.

Re: for people that follow hs football

there is this one kid who played for valley the past two years. He kind of reminded me of Todd Blythe, just not as good as Todd. He was about as tall (6'5) and probably as fast. His name was like Collie or something. He isn't playing in college though.

    anybody remember this guy?
