    Another Vegas question thread

Been looking possibly at going to Vegas sometime in June this year. Noticed the dates we want the most have the flights almost doubled and tripled for the departure/return trips respectively. Not sure why, but I'll call Allegiant and see what's up. Does anyone know of a better way to get a good Allegiant deal from Des Moines besides booking on Allegian.com? Also, does anyone know of any specials that would be coming up?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Another Vegas question thread

From my experience, going directly to the airline websites gets you cheaper fares. I fly a lot and always try the 2nd party sites and get nowhere except $5-20 higher rates. If you don't mind the drive, try flying out of Omaha or Cedar Rapids...both are cheaper for the airlines which makes it cheaper on you. And don't give up...just keep checking!

As for Vegas...don't be afraid to wheel and deal on your room...call around, find out what they are all offering and take that info back to the 1 or 2 hotels where you really want to stay. Right now is a super easy time to get upgraded to suites for standard room rates...they want your business as none of them are booked to capacity. One thing I did was register my email with a few of them...it's amazing some of the emails you get with special offers, rates, freebies, etc.

    Good luck.

I agree on the flights. Just keep an eye on allegiant air for tickets to go down. You wanting to stay strip or downtown?

Unless you really want the direct flight...look at flying on a different airline from DM. I'm looking at going in June as well. If you check Priceline, most of the June flights out of DM are $238 RT (with all of the taxes) which is cheaper than what you will get on Allegiant.

    Re: Another Vegas question thread

Have you thought about going to their office and looking around out back through their trash? I work in an office, so I know that a lot of times, I'm betting that they have memos and stuff talking about their upcoming deals. With my office experience, I also now that a lot of times people just through those out, so I bet you'll find something good in the trash.

If that doesn't work, are you any good at reading lips? You could park outside of their offices with a pair of binoculars and just wait...eventually one of them will slip up.

These are great ideas if you are trying to get great deals on travel OR if you are trying to catch your cheating girlfriend. It's worked for me.

Personally, I'd pay an extra $50 each way to have the direct flight, best part about allegiant.

I do like the direct flight as well but not for the extra money and that 8am return flight back to DM is brutal.

The 6:30 a.m. back to Sioux Falls is worse, but easier to sleep on.

I agree the direct flight is the easiest and I'd pay more for it too, but for some reason, the rates are 209 and 329 from a thursday through a sunday when all the other days in that time frame are 129.

Yeah, that's way more than I paid. Probably have to wait until it's closer. I noticed a couple weeks before we left the flight out was $39.

NWA can get me there with one stop on the way and 2 on the way back for under 200. Not horrible.

That's good. i'm a guy who doesn't like flying, so the least amount of take offs and landings there are the less chance of me losing my lunch. Can't put a price on that.
I can tell you this much, we stayed at a hotel for cheap, but paid for it in no water pressure in the bathroom toilet, a shower that was falling apart and rock hard beds.

Do I sense that uncomfortable call to the front desk for a plunger?
