How many are buying ADDITIONAL season tickets JUST for the Iowa game?

    I'm curious.

Don't really care for any commentary on it, just wondering who's literally buying into it? Not meant to be a statement of support or opposition to the plan, I'd just like to see how well it might work.

Re: How many are buying ADDITIONAL season tickets JUST for the Iowa game?

    Surprising.

An hour in and 14% said yes (that's only two, but still 14%).

At that clip, it'll mean another 4300 season tickets generating another $1.5M at full season ticket prices.

Hard to say whether that will continue throughout Cyclone Nation. It doesn't take into account non-renewals and let's be honest, fans here are a little more ravenous than Joe Blow fans, so I would guess that the number would be skewed higher. But even at that, a lower 10% clip would be more than I'd guess.

We'll see. Thanks to those who have participated.

I could really care less if someone else sees the game or not. Im buying my season tix, so i know im going. Even if JTS is only half full, itll all be ISU fans, so well still have the advantage.
This in no way effects season ticket holders. Its for the people that buy extra tickets and sell them at a jacked up rate. Its for the Iowa fans that get tix from their CLone friends. If you wanna buy a ticket, youre gonna pay. Good job Jamie.

How much money is that? $65/ticket in '05 at 25K = 1.6 million.

Who is it you think bought those 18K ticket in '05? So, yes, I would say it most directly impacts season ticket holders.

As to what they may have done with them after the fact - I agree with you.

Where is the option for I will be buying less tickets? I used to buy an extra season ticket. It was usually easy to find someone who could use it and I just considered it an additional donation to the university. With the price increase, I will no longer be doing that. (I already voted for no.)

Iowa will still get there allotment to sell so they will still have an Iowa section. That is a contract.

Re: How many are buying ADDITIONAL season tickets JUST for the Iowa game?

Thought about that, but I was considering the impact of the no-single game sales on season ticket purchases.

I guess I could've put in there "I won't renew because they aren't selling Iowa single game seats". Now, I'm not especially enthused about this "plan", but that type of attitude makes no sense to me.

I see the "not able to afford it any longer" attitude. But "I can't get extra - so I'm not getting any" ????

But I did the same as you when I was single Got the two through varsity and just found somebody to go. Kept them when my varsity days were over and now my wife goes. I couldn't justify $350 for an Iowa ticket - or even just an extra set, any longer as well.

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: How many are buying ADDITIONAL season tickets JUST for the Iowa game?

I live 1200 miles away form JTS and Ames, have contributed to NCC and season tickets for years, even the 9 years I have lived in Southwest........I have friends and family in Iowa.......yes, I send tickets back to Iowa for their use........I support my Clones. I attend away games...ie Colorado, K-State, Tech and UNLV in '99 and of course Bowl Games.......
JP made it "Cyrstal Clear" that a Next Step forward was $$$$$$$$ and for those who don't get it meant TICKET PRICES!!!! and parking. If you have been to other Big 12 and other confernces games you "had" a sweet deal for years. Parking at JTS is the best and now it cost a few bucks? Ticket prices for Football are mid range for Big 12........you can't run with the big dogs(BCS) if you piddle like a puppy!
getting a HC like Chizik and G-Mac will elevate the programs.......it cost money and the alum and fans need to pony up........I don't understand the re-seating yet if any but I for one will increase my purchase with end zone seats at a resonable increase in ticket numbers. If you can't afford it.....OK we understand but contribute at a different level through NCC....... I like what Pollard has done.....we all knew it was coming!

Re: How many are buying ADDITIONAL season tickets JUST for the Iowa game?

I'm still getting season tickets but not buying additional. I think a better question is how many that were planning on going to the Iowa game but not buy season tickets are now going to buy season tickets so they can go?

If we had a mid range Big 12 program you might have a good point, but we don't, sorry.

How do you think you get to that point? If you want our athletic budget to increase and have nice facilities you have to expect some ticket price increases at some point. And this is just a creative way to possibly generate more season tickets is by making the Iowa game some what "exclusive" by forcing people to buy season tickets just so they can see it.

I really don't understand why people are so upset about this. Did you really think the $99 season tickets were here to stay? If you really want to see the Iowa game just buy a season ticket like most die hards do anyways and worry later if there are still a lot of seats to be had. At least you have yours and Pollard is no fool, he's pack Jack Trice for that game while maximizing the sales potential for it! If all anyone cares about is seeing that game and nothing else then is it worth $125 endzone seats to you? You don't have to buy the $350 seats but you pay for the quality of seats you get. If you want Cyclone Athletics to take it to the next level you are going to have to take it to the next level yourself in financial contributions.

Re: How many are buying ADDITIONAL season tickets JUST for the Iowa game?

I don't think I can edit the poll after it's started - in anycase it would skew the results

I was just looking for people who will go ahead and buy season tickets just because they otherwise couldn't get an Iowa ticket that they would normally want/get. A poll of how effective holding the Iowa game hostage will be.

So in your case I would say the answer is "No" - because you're getting it anyway regardless of the Iowa limitation. But you bring up a good point, it doesn't take into account you're extra ticket.

The results thusfar suggest it will be effective. Hovering around 25%. I guess I should correct my previous numbers. Just answering "yes" won't necessarily equate to a 1:1 new ticket ratio as I implied. I'm sure plenty of donors get 2 or 4 tickets, but might just pick up an extra one or two because of the Iowa game.

So I guess that this poll suggests that a good number (more than I thought) will buy season tickets BECAUSE IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO GET AN IOWA TICKET THEY OTHERWISE WOULDN'T HAVE. But is worthless in suggesting how many or what overall impact it'll have on total numbers.

    Shoot.
