    Monsters vs Aliens

My son and I just got back from the theater. This has the coolest 3D I've seen in a movie by far, and the overall movie is pretty funny. Not spectacular, but funny enough in combination with the cool 3D that I would recommend it to anyone with kids.

We were in the 5th row, with an aisle between our seats and the fourth row, and there were many times when the 3D made it look like things in the movie were intermingled with the people in front of us. Very cool!

I saw the 3D version too and it was fantastic. Highly recommend to everyone, especially for the kids.

Saw the 2D version (no 3d capable theater close by), we enjoyed it. Even in 2d, the animation had great depth and separation to it.

Yeah, Im not a big fan of 3d but I have to say it was well done. It isnt gimmicky like most are. Stuff really pops out at you. The nerd with the paddle game hitting the ball out into the crowd was fanastic.

I went to the 2D with my 3 year old on Saturday. He got scared when the US military started firing at the Alien ship (he was shaking) so we left about 30 minutes into the movie. We went home and watched Clifford the Big Red Dog for about the 20th time.

Another part of the 3D was the debris that came out into the crowd. Whether it was leaves, dirts, rocks, or whatever. Our theater gave out quality 3D glass, hard plastice wrap around type. Did you all get those? We had to return them afterward, but they were much better than that paper cheapies.

We had those too, but I kept them on general principle. I paid two extra bucks for each, so I think they're mine. Hopefully they will work for the dvd version.

Well they were standing outside the door. I had 4 in hand and I guess they would have never know. Apparently there is a tag inside of them for antitheft, but i doubt any theater really wants to put the money into scanners by the doors.

I guess now that I've spilled the beans on my own larceny, I will await the local authorities. Hope I can post from the Warren county courthouse!

At the Century theatre inside Jordan Creek mall there is a recycle bin that you can just put yours in afterwards. You could keep them if you wanted.

    Re: Monsters vs Aliens

I went last Friday as well. Not a movie I would buy and watch again, but it was good for what it's worth.

I also saw it in 3D, first one ever only because I've always been skeptical of them. Although it did cost $3 extra for each ticket, it was a quality 3D movie. We did get to keep out glasses as well and look forward to reusing them for future movies and not have to pay extra.

Was it just me or did that giant insect freak anyone out?

Hmm I was under the impression that in the future you would still have to pay the $3 fee for the 3D movie regardless of whether or not you needed the glasses. Maybe you are right though and we should have kept ours.

I liked the little references in the movie. For example when is the shows the missle that says ET go home on it, it plays the ET music for a couple seconds. Also when the president is playing the keyboard he plays the tones from Close Encounters before jamming out to Beverly Hills Cop.

Great movie, Seth Rogan was awesome as B.O.B.

Don't quote me on it, but it's close.

    Re: Monsters vs Aliens

This was the first full 3D movie the wife and I have seen and we loved it. Some of the parts really didn't benefit that much but some parts were simply amazing and made up for the lesser parts. Some of the previews looked equally amazing - or better.

While I've been a big critic of the 3D movie idea in the past, there are certain instances where is just creates a whole new kind of experience.
