    Shawn Taggert

I'm talking to a friend of mine who goes to Memphis and talks to Shawn regularly. One thing that Shawn always tells him is that Iowa State never truly respected him. Do you honestly believe that? I have trouble thinking Iowa State doesnt respect their players, but I suppose that's just my opinion. Thoughts?

We all gave him a chance but he was a complete tool and his lack of effort was infectious.

    My question back would be:

    Can you please define respect?

Many times ppl confuse "no respect" with accountability.

Hard to respect a guy who played like he didn't want to be at Iowa State and made sure to let everyone know with his lack of hustle and lack of enthusiasm...so ya I'd say I for one gave him absolutely no respect

Where I come from...(can't believe I just typed that)... you had to EARN respect!

just because he was a highly rated recruit, you need to be respected?

disclaimer: I don't really know that the situation was...so disregard above statement.

    Re: Shawn Taggert

I will always argue that Tagg has the athletic and physical attributes to be a big-time player but he has absolutely no drive and it's probably going to make it hard for him to ever succeed in bball after college. He's fortunate that his style fits perfectly with Memphis because very few coaches would put up with his lack of effort.

If he really said that, it sounds as if it worked out well for us...who walks around telling so and so that they arent respected enough?

    Re: Shawn Taggert

He never looked to enjoy being there. ISU does respect most players, heck there are very few in any sport that dont have my respect, past and current. One oh his problems was he was way too hyped coming in, by himself and others. It was something about the way he played that bugged me, it was like he was almost too good for ISU. I dont know I am sure he is a good guy.

Respect is a two way street also.

    Re: Shawn Taggert

What isn't classy about calling somebody out that was clearly not giving it half his all? It takes very little for a college athlete to earn their fan's respect and that says a lot when a "star" recruit comes in and can't get the respect that most walkons can get.

If he spent as much time in the gym as he did hitting on random girls through facebook... he could have been great here. I personally wanted to see another year of him as a healthy player... but respect as a person... from what I saw of him on campus, and the facebook things... I can't say I do have much respect for him.
