    With all the Barnes Hype

I think the future of our program remains weather or not Brackins stays another year or not. I think Craig staying would be better long term then Harrison Coming to Iowa State. Without Craig we are going to be bottom dwellers again. With Craig we can have a pretty good year next year. Barnes is still 1 year away. We could be so bad at that point that getting Barnes will just give us another year like this year. Having a great player on a bad team. I hope to hell Craig Brackins stays. It would be nice to add another Shooting guard that can get it done.

What this team really needs is a slashing guard who can get to the basket and either finish or distribute to an open player....create mis-matches and get easy points. We had to work way too hard for all of our points this year. (If he were to be a good outside shot, that would just be a bonus!)

That is why getting Gillstrap for 1 year is still better than no Gillstrap. We are going to really need someone to take Gillstraps shoes. Hopefully Ejim or Barnes. Most likely neither but one of those two could be huge.

I sure hope Gillstrap really does turn out to be that guy next year. Although we didn't do too well this year, we were so close in many games. One player (the right player) could have made a huge difference. If Craig does stay and Gillstrap, Colvin, and Dendy are as productive as some of us hope, next year could be completely different. (Just look at how one year made a huge difference with Oklahoma State & Missouri)

I assume Brackins is gone. The future of the program rests in Colvin, Pomlee, Gilstrap, and Gendy.

    Could rest in worse hands...

It wasn't to long ago you were saying that you would lose a lot of respect for Brackins if he went pro early. You also said he would be lucky to be drafted early second round

So are you going to lose respect for him?

I said I would lose respect for him as a basketball player. Go back and read the post.

Why would I say this? Because he will not improve his game at the NBA level. His confidence will take a shot, and he'll end up overseas. There are so many situations that occur during the NBA that you don't face in college.

Also, Brackins had consistency issues over the course of 30 games. It's hard for me to think he's turned the page and could be consistent for 82 games.

At the same time, when you're making $0, $1.5 mil guaranteed sounds good (even though he could improve next year and parlay that into $8 mil guaranteed) which is why I would assume he'd leave, even if it isn't good for the development of his basketball skills.

Re: With all the Barnes Hype

Next year's team looks much more athletic than this year's, and a lot of the struggles were from a lack of athleticism. This is what most of us were worried about when WJ went to Syracuse.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!
