    CSR interview with Leonard Johnson

I'm so glad he stayed. I think he's got a future in the NFL and if he would have left it really would have set us back.

Re: CSR interview with Leonard Johnson

Yeah. He seems like a solid kid, not to mention a great player. I feel bad for being as critical as I was after that UNLV game. He definitely shaped up after that one.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

Re: CSR interview with Leonard Johnson

I agree his actions in the UNLV game were rash and very uncalled for. That being said I would rather have players that need to be calmed down then guys you have to pump up. I am glad he stayed and I think he will have a very good if not great Cyclone career.

Re: CSR interview with Leonard Johnson

Great interview, only thing that jumped out at me was this, LJ on Burnham,

"His defense is about stopping the run and just playing hard-nosed football."

Stopping the run will be nice, but we most importantly in this conference need to stop the pass.

    With that said, LJ rules.

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

Re: CSR interview with Leonard Johnson

"You just have to come in and show no love for your opponent. You have to take advantage of every opportunity that you get and you can't shy away from the competition. On the field I'm a team player but when you line up against a wide receiver in the Big 12 it's just me or him and as a freshman you can't let anyone walk on you." - Leonard Johnson

This is a winning attitude for football in the Big 12. LJ is probably the most talented corner since Ellis Hobbs, and if he continues to improve, he'll likely be better. Attitude can trump talent, and I hope LJ can spread some of this attitude around to the rest of the team. He's my favorite player.

Re: CSR interview with Leonard Johnson

I really liked some of his statements in that article, especially this one:

The key is that I stayed and I'm definitely a Cyclone all the way.

I really like Leonard, put eleven LJ's on the field and you'll definitely have a bowl team.

Re: CSR interview with Leonard Johnson

Great article on Jay...he's 19-20 years old, kids make mistakes. It certainly sounds like he understands the mistake and is over it, let it go. We got a 6 win season coming up if the team takes on his winning attitude.

isugcs: it may be intentional, but I hate looking at your avatar and seeing the Auburn hat on Coach Rhoads.

Yeah, kicking him off the team would have been a little extreme, but I still think it warranted at least a one game suspension. That was a real cheap shot.

I'm glad he cleaned up his act after that. Sounds like he's really matured.

Re: CSR interview with Leonard Johnson

It was a really good article. He makes a good point about how close the team was in a few games, but he mentions Nebraska as one of the games they were a few plays away. He must have hit someone a little too hard because as I remember I went out to tailgate in the 3rd quarter as the game was over.
