    Arrowhead labor problems

A labor strike is threatening to postpone the completion of the remodeling of arrowhead stadium. Might force the chiefs to play the entire season on the road. I would think that our game with K-State would obviously have to be moved (back to ames?).

Makes for an interesting story but I am sure they will get it ironed out (pun intended).

    Arrowhead game in trouble?

    Just saw this on HROT.

"I heard on the radio today that 2 of the union contractors (Carpenters and iron workers ) are going to go on strike Tuesday night. If they go on strike for more than 30 days Arrowhead will not be available to host games next year. The Chiefs will have to cancel their home games and play all of them on the road. The owner of the Chiefs has already talked to the commish and other owners about this situation. One of the local's union leaders said it is 100% chance they will go on strike."

    Re: Arrowhead labor problems

For some reason my post got deleted, I must have posted right as the thread was merged.

Anyways, I literally JUST clicked submit on my season ticket renewal and ordered 5 tickets for KC as well. This is awesome. So are unions.

Not to talk bad on union workers or anyone employed by a union, but Clark Hunt needs to take a page out of The Replacments, and hire scabs.

Plus I'd like to hear someone say "He's Wiry"

This would really suck as we've already paid for our rooms.

    Re: Arrowhead labor problems

It's time for wild speculation as to what will happen if Arrowhead cannot host the game.

    1) Obvious choice- move the game back to JTS.
1b) Would the 2010 game be moved back to Manhattan, even if Arrowhead was good to go by then? That is my guess anyways, to keep things fair.

    2) Move the game to Kaufman and play on one of those annoying football fields with a baseball diamond in the corner? It's not like the Royals will still be needing their stadium in October.

???? Feel free to throw out more wild speculation.

Why not move the game back to Ames in 2009 and then play at Arrowhead in 2010/2011?

    Re: Arrowhead labor problems

The Chiefs situation is not all that different from the one the Chicago Bears were in a few years ago when Soldier Field was being remodeled and they moved their home games to the University of Illinois. If this happens, the Chiefs would likely look for a deal to move their home games. We really should get the jump on this and proactively propose that they play at least some of their home games at Jack Trice, if needed. We could make big bucks from a deal like that. If we delay they will end up at the University of Missouri or Kansas University.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.
