how would isu do in the big ten

it is interesting when all the Big XII fans talk about how bad the big ten is. My question to ISU fans is how they would do in the big ten.

In my opinion, every team in that conference would have beaten ISU with the exception of the Indiana Schools (Indiana, Purdue) and Michigan.

Even though the Big 12 is clearly the better conference, I would put ISU near the bottom of the Big 10 as well...just above IU.

I don't know that you can compare the two directly, but if you had to, I'd guess ISU would be akin to Minnesota more years than not if you were just to swap conference schedules.

Joining the Big XII would do wonders for the financials at ISU, though, as well over time. Put it on the same footing as Iowa in terms of revenue (which isn't as absurd as you might think, considering the revenue sharing and whatnot in the Big X), and I think they could end up being as good or better than Iowa in the conference given the right coaching staff at ISU.

Last season we probably would have only beaten Indiana. I think Purdue and Michigan would have beaten us.

Re: how would isu do in the big ten

It wouldn't have matter what conference Iowa State was in the last 2 years, their record would probably be the same.

But it's funny Iowa State finished dead last in the Big XII but you think they would have finished ahead of Indiana, Purdue and Michigan in the Big 10. Putting them at 8th in the conference. Meaning the Big 10 is weaker.

With last year's defense, it probably wouldn't have been much different.

I think we could beat Indiana, Iowa, and a surprise Penn State and maybe some more.

Re: how would isu do in the big ten

Last year, yeah the big 10 wasn't that great, so if we are talking last year only then i think Iowa State would have gotten one conf win, possibly two. But we'd still be at or near the bottom. Next year or previous year who knows. Now if we went to the Sun Belt or MAC, then it'd be a different story, but I don't agree with any of the talk of ISU ever dropping down and taking over a smaller conference. That's horsecrap. We're a big 12 team for as long as the big 12 is around.

What's funny about the big ten is really you only have to be about the 4th best team to have a shot at winning/tying for a title. Just think of all the big ten champs who are only champs because of a watered down conference schedule and structure.

And add to that the fact that ISU has regularly beaten an upper half team in the big ten and it's pretty reasonable to call the big ten weak.

Not to mention missouri beats up on illinois each year.

Who would that be? It isn't Iowa, or would that be a "Decade of Domination" reference?

Re: how would isu do in the big ten

All of the conferences are very equal!!!

The SEC or PAC 10 never has to play the Big 10 @ a Big 10 stadium

Ohio State ends up playing LSU in the Sugar bowl?
Penn St. vs USC in the Rose Bowl?

I hate the big 10 but the north teams get screwed every year

Re: how would isu do in the big ten

I know this has nothing to do with ISU in the big 10 but Ohio St. would have been National Champs in 2008 if the game would have been in Ohio stadium
