141 pounds - No. 9 Nick Gallick (ISU) dec. Chris Drouin (Arizona State), 3-0
149 pounds - Mitch Mueller (ISU) maj. dec. Anthony Constantino (Columbia), 12-3
157 pounds - No. 7 Cyler Sanderson (ISU) dec. Matt Moley (Bloomsburg), 11-6
165 pounds - No. 6 Jon Reader (ISU) dec. Andrew Rendos (Bucknell), 8-2
174 pounds - Aron Scott (ISU) dec. Randy Oates (George Mason), 2-0
184 pounds - No. 1 Jake Varner (ISU) dec. Lior Zamir (Penn), 6-0

How was Iowa doing after the first round last year?

Edit: Beat me to it. Nice work, Jon.

Re: COMPARE: ISU through 1st round LAST YEAR

    I'm confused - this year/last year.

What's the standings as of now?

And what the hell is a pigtail match?

Re: COMPARE: ISU through 1st round LAST YEAR

Dont know the standings yet...and I think the numbers I posted from last year also include consolation points. Those are not yet completed for the first session.

Re: COMPARE: ISU through 1st round LAST YEAR

I don't follow wrestling too closely, and I hate to give the Hawks credit for anything, but it is cool to see that as a state we are an absolute hotbed of talent in this sport. Right now we're 1 & 2 while the rest on the list are a geographic smattering. And one of the two schools is THE national powerhouse almost every year with the other seldom far behind.

Thanks for the rankings Jon & cloneu.

But can somebody give me the thirty-thousand foot flyover of what Pigtail matches are? TIA

Pigtail matches are the matches that are held before the 1st round. Like this year every weight had 1 pigtail match. Some websites may call this the first round but some call them pigtails.
