Ok. Besides being and bad way to get money, doesn't that constitute making money while an amature athlete and therefore an NCAA violation? I know he isn't a "professional" but still.

Student Athletes can work while attending school. Moral issues aside, I don't see how this is any different than a summer job.

I forgot about that. Nebbie would have ran away with the Big 12 tourney if they still had him.

Seems like a pretty good guy.

The blatant hypocrisy Nebraska shows is pathetic and disgusting! They have kept multiple women beaters and assaulters, and even an armed robber on their team. But this guy? Apparently it is worse in their eyes to get naked than to beat the crap out of a girl. Ridiculous.

Donohue posing nude was the straw that broke the camels back. He had been in trouble a few times before and was known to be a *****.

Well I guess Osborne isn't a very good wrestling coach. And I'm sure he delegates all non-football AD responsibilities to someone else.

When this happened I was more disgusted by the way that Nebraska handled the situation rather than the situation itself. I wonder if this were a women's athlete if it would have been handled the same way.

Actually, there is something about self promotion though. I don't know the specifics on it, (I live near chicago so it was big news at the time) but Darnell Autry had to sue the NCAA for the right to take a part in a movie. He wasn't going to get paid for it, it just violated a rule about self promotion that they had in place. Not sure if it even still exists.

The self-promotion rule pertains to their status as an athlete. As you read in the article, he wanted to keep his true identity a secret. Thus, he wasn't making a profit because of his "fame." This is a tough issue because I see both sides. In my opinion, however, this whole thing reeks of homophobia. NU can handle drunks, wife beaters, rapists, and thieves, but just the mere thought of a homosexual athlete (which he's not) on campus raises all these alarms.
