    Tournament teams improve APR scores

Graduation rates of tourney's No. 1 seeds vary - ESPN

Looks like maybe you can be good at basketball and have good graduation rates. Very impressed by Marquette and Wake Forest's 100%. UNC not too bad with 86%.

Re: Tournament teams improve APR scores

Does anyone know what our current basketball APR is? Are we above 925 yet?

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

I don't know what our apr is, but I know it is more than 925 because we are not under any sanctions.

Not necessarily true. We were under it but got an exception from the NCAA a couple years ago.

I thought we were talking about this year? We were suffering penalties but we are now have all of our scholarships back. Spite all the players that have left under McDermott, only one has affected our APR because of new transfer rules.

Re: Tournament teams improve APR scores

The percentage rates aren't meaningless, but they shouldn't really carry too much weight, in my opinion. Because I'm a KU and ISU fan, hopefully this next statement should carry more weight --- KSU will be punished under this measure for Beasley and Walker 4 years from now, but they shouldn't be. Both have used their undergraduate experience in a far more valuable manner than many who go to college and acquire various liberal arts degrees, and that includes other college basketball players. So I take these percentages with a grain of salt.

You would be wrong. Our APR is 869 and in the bottom 10% of all CBB programs.

    2008 APR Reports by School - NCAA.org

It is my understanding that these APRs are calculated on a running four years...not each year individually. As you can see, we were given a "waiver" of our penalty from the NCAA due to the WM/GM coaching change.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
