    Neb QB problems

Nebraska's heir apparent at QB transferred last month. Didn't know if this had been posted. Certainly improves our chances in Lincoln this fall.

    Re: Neb QB problems

Well i was in Lincoln for the Men's game 2 weeks ago and talked with alot of Nebraska fans and several people close to the program not to mention my two best friends are huge Husker fans, and the rumors were that this highly touted recruit they just got in is the real deal and is just that good, which basically translated into running Witt out of town because he wasnt guaranteed playing time.

Idk if it is good or bad could go either way....But i know that is the story

The guy coming in is always just as good, or better, than the guy who just left....whenever you ask a fan of the program in question (or any program, really).

    Re: Neb QB problems

It certainly does improve our chances a little, but the Blackshirts are legit there is no doubt about it, it will be fun to watch our high octane offense go up against the blackshirts....

The key will be how our O-Line plays againts the likes of Suh, Steinkuhler, and Lingenfelter

Oh ya and their Frosh QB's name is Cody Green

I also heard rumors that Witt was teaching Cody Green wrong plays or telling him to do the wrong thing to get a step ahead on Green, but then again that is just a rumor

Didn't NEB lose a lot of their defense to 'graduation'? I would love to have all of ISU's oppenents break in a new QB each year against them, even if it is a top recruit. Freshman QB's as a rule are not usually that great.

True, and that will def hurt them, i hope they are terrible this year too as well. But i will not be surprised at all if they win the North and go to a bowl similar to the Gator Bowl like they did last year.....

With a frosh qb the earlier in the season we play them the better. Too bad it is not the first conference game.

    Re: Neb QB problems

It will be an interesting game. I don't seem them being near as dominant as in the past. They still have a lot of blue chip recruits, but they're really young. I give us a 50/50 chance this year.

If it was in Ames, I give us a 50/50 chance to win. Since it is not, I give us a real slim chance to win. Can't tell much though until we see both teams play.

I agree i know we play them early on in the Big 12 season but i dont think early enough, our barometer of how good this kid actually is will be their first test of the year in Blacksburg vs. Va Tech... If UNL wins then i think we better watch out in the game against them, if they loose, we still should watch out because it is Nebraska and because our track record for road games is simply put "not the best"

I am going to the game and gonna yell my face off for the cyclones, and really hope they will pull out a win against what is probably going to be a "decent" Husker team next year

    Re: Neb QB problems

I don't know how many players Nebraska loses on D (it wasn't that impressive anyway), but they lost a very good qb and replacing him will be tough. I talked to a Missouri fan who thinks their new qb will be better than Daniel (I believe he was a highly prized Nebraska recruit who changed to Missouri when Callahan got fired). The North loses some good qb's and we have ours back, so it gives me some hope that we can make a little noise in the North if PR and company can do a quick resurrection of our o-line and defense. That's a lot to ask in the first year, but I think we have the staff to give us some improvement in those areas.

Joe Ganz was a gamer and will be missed. Luckily for Nebraska, Shawn Watson has a pretty good history of getting QB's to play pretty well (Colorado did well at the QB position with not so talented guys). Zac Lee will be an above average QB and will start over Cody Green. I appreciate you guys for your optimism, but there is a very slim chance you will win in Lincoln next year (almost as slim if the game was in Ames). Nebraska lost a few numbers on defense, but only 1, maybe 2, guys who made a difference (Zach Potter at DE and maybe Ty Steinkuhler at DT).

As far as Mizzou, I think Blain Gabbert could be a great QB. He was a Nebraska commit and de-committed and went to Mizzou after Callahan was fired. He has a ton of upside and may end up being better than Daniel (definitely has the more impressive physical tools), but I don't think he will be this next year. Fact is, Mizzou loses tons of talent and will likely take a big step back this year. Fortunately for them, the last 2 years successes have helped them recruit a little better, but those players are still really yound and unproven (i.e. Blaine Gabbert).
